The BMW i5: Unveiling the Future of Electric Sedans

The driving range certification for BMW’s business electric sedan, the i5, has been completed.

The KENCIS, the automotive emissions and noise certification center under the Ministry of Environment, reported that the driving range of the BMW i5 electric sedan has been certified at 399 km. The i5 is the third model in BMW’s electrified sedan lineup, following the i7 and i4, and will play a central role in BMW’s electrification strategy.

The i5’s one-charge driving range is certified domestically at a combined 399 km at room temperature, 407 km in the city, and 390 km on the highway. In low temperatures, it offers a combined 339 km, 306 km in the city, and 379 km on the highway.

The i5 uses an 84.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a maximum output of 340 horsepower, with a WLTP range of 582 km. Additionally, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds, with a top speed limited to 193 km/h.

BMW plans to launch the i5 alongside the new 5 Series in the second half of the year, aiming to create a new wave in the E-segment market.
