Kakao Mobility Launches ‘NemoTon’ Hackathon to Drive Innovative Mobility Solutions

Kakao Mobility is hosting the ‘NemoTon’ hackathon to solicit innovative service ideas utilizing Kakao Mobility’s technology.

‘NemoTon’ is the first hackathon organized by Kakao Mobility, aiming to discover various innovative service ideas that can change daily life based on Kakao Mobility’s technology, such as navigation APIs and SDKs.

Kakao Mobility has been opening its core technology infrastructure for productization through the ‘Kakao Mobility Developers’ website, providing APIs and SDKs that can be utilized by external developers or partners.

Anyone can participate in NemoTon as individuals or teams of up to four, without any specific eligibility restrictions. Participants must submit their registration applications through the NemoTon homepage by August 13 and submit preliminary documents, including development plans and roadmaps, by August 21. The finals will be held at the Kakao Mobility headquarters in Pangyo on August 31 and September 1 for those who pass the preliminaries.

Kakao Mobility has also prepared a Demo Day on August 16 for hackathon participants. This online event will provide detailed guidance on the hackathon tasks and feature lectures such as ‘Customer-Centered Service Development Methods’ and ‘Introduction and Utilization of Kakao Mobility Technologies’ to support participants in developing their service ideas.

A total of three teams will be awarded prizes, with 1st place receiving 10 million won, 2nd place 5 million won, and 3rd place 2 million won, totaling a prize pool of 17 million won.

Jang Sung-wook, Head of the Future Mobility Research Institute at Kakao Mobility, stated, “We planned NemoTon to support the birth of various innovative service ideas based on Kakao Mobility’s technology” and added, “In the future, we will continue to actively share Kakao Mobility’s technology with the domestic technology ecosystem and seek ways to contribute to society through mobility technology.”
