Revolutionizing Transportation: Gurae-gun and Kakao Mobility Join Forces for Shared Bicycles

Kakao Mobility and Gurae-gun in Jeollanam-do have signed an agreement to operate shared bicycles.

Attended by key figures including Gurae-gun Mayor Kim Soon-ho and Kakao Mobility Director Hwang Tae-seon, this agreement has gained significant attention for its collaborative effort to improve the living environment for local residents and to provide a more convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation to visiting tourists.

Kakao Mobility started the Kakao T Bike pilot service in 2019, paving the way for easier daily mobility. Gurae-gun is the first military unit in the country to sign an agreement with Kakao T Bike, developing a partnership that fulfills responsibilities towards community development and environmental protection.

Through this agreement, Kakao Mobility will provide Kakao T Bike services with a fleet of 200 standard shared bicycles, and it plans to donate all operational profits from the shared bicycles back to the Gurae-gun local community to support mobility services in areas lacking transportation.

Furthermore, Gurae-gun aims to enhance mobility convenience for local residents and tourists by establishing eight bike-sharing hubs at locations such as the Gurae-eup Office and Gurae Medical Center, alongside setting up tourist-oriented bike-sharing hubs at seven key tourist attractions such as the Seomjin River Bamboo Forest.

Mayor Kim Soon-ho expressed, “The signing of this agreement between Gurae-gun and Kakao Mobility marks a meaningful first step towards improving mobility convenience for our residents and environmental protection. We anticipate that it will contribute to a more comfortable and valuable transportation option for both residents and tourists.”
