Unveiling the Unique Ferrari 812 Competizione at Monterey Car Week

Ferrari unveiled the one-of-a-kind Ferrari 812 Competizione during Monterey Car Week through a live stream. This tailor-made vehicle was inspired by the ‘blank sheet’ concept, which is a method the Ferrari Styling Center uses to initiate creative research for all new models.

This tailor-made vehicle is one of just 999 units of the Ferrari 812 Competizione produced exclusively for collectors and enthusiasts of Ferrari’s 12-cylinder models. A commemorative plaque symbolizing the original blank sheet concept that inspired the design is attached inside the vehicle.

The showcased tailor-made 812 Competizione was commissioned by Ferrari North America. It is set to be auctioned at the Ferrari Gala in New York on October 17. The Ferrari Gala is a special event celebrating the unique community and passion for the Ferrari brand, and the auction is expected to be the highlight of the event. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to charities focused on educational support projects, which are central to Ferrari’s social contribution initiatives.

Advanced craftsmanship was used to create these original and creative patterns, developed through close collaboration between the Styling Center and the tailor-made team over an approximately year-long process. The Ferrari tailor-made team is responsible for the most innovative personalization projects at Ferrari.

The main challenge for the Styling Center and the tailor-made team was to maintain the creative ideas and artistic craftsmanship that flowed from the drawings of Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer, while achieving technical perfection with unique details that inspired this model.

In fact, this vehicle was one of the ‘yellow cards’ envisioned by Ferrari’s designers. Now synonymous with Ferrari, these yellow cards represent the initial ideas, insights, and thoughts translated onto paper by Ferrari designers. Within these yellow cards lies a wealth of repetition, detail, and ideas that contribute to a new concept and unique style, a part of Italian automotive design history.

The car is dressed in a matte Giallo Tristrato color. The elegant and sporty shapes of the 812 Competizione, along with its most characteristic details, are beautifully highlighted in the matte Nero DS sketch (finished in black). Notably, a carbon fiber blade serving as an air intake for the engine is positioned horizontally across the front hood. Additionally, the vortex generators mounted on either side, as a tribute to Ferrari’s 12-cylinder tradition, are equally noteworthy. It’s worth mentioning that the rear screen of the 812 Competizione lacks glass and is instead equipped with a rear camera that isn’t visible from the outside.

The same concept is reflected in the interior. The cockpit of this 812 Competizione is covered in next-generation Alcantara®, composed of 65% recycled polyester, initially showcased through the Ferrari Purosangue. This Alcantara material features a directly embroidered design sketch with highly innovative techniques. While Ferrari typically uses leather for such custom motifs, this attempt represents a truly unique solution. The interior trim is completed with black Trilobal Superfabric® used for the passenger’s carpet and backrest.

Targeted at a select group of collectors and pureists pursuing Ferrari tradition, the 812 Competizione aims for uncompromising top performance. With the application of innovative technical concepts, the 812 Competizione has achieved new levels of performance and serves as an ideal model for testing the infinite combinations and possibilities offered by the Ferrari tailor-made program.

The 812 Competizione harmonizes with the driver on both road and track, ensuring immediate response from the brakes and perfect control even in the most complex operating scenarios. Additionally, thanks to the independent four-wheel steering system providing agility and precise cornering, as well as the 830cv V12 engine, it delivers an unparalleled driving thrill. This vehicle’s engine combines impressive power, exhilarating dynamics, and the familiar sound of Ferrari’s 12-cylinder purity.
