Unveiling the New 2024 Kia Sportage: Celebrating 30 Years of Innovation

Kia has launched the updated model of its best-selling compact SUV, the Sportage, under the name ‘The 2024 Sportage,’ on Tuesday the 18th, marking the beginning of its sales.

The Sportage was introduced in 1993 as the “world’s first urban SUV” and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

The 2024 Sportage features added customer-preferred specifications for improved convenience and safety. Notably, it introduces a special ‘30th Anniversary Edition’ with enhanced design luxury to commemorate its three decades of success.

Kia has applied new dual-laminated soundproof glass to the front row of all trims of The 2024 Sportage, and the top-tier Signature trim expands this feature to the second row, further enhancing indoor quietness.

For the first time in its class, side airbags for the second row are standard across all trims, ensuring safety that befits the Sportage’s reputation as the absolute champion in the compact SUV market.

The 30th Anniversary Edition is based on the existing Signature Gravity model but includes differentiated design elements for enhanced completeness.

Kia has expanded the application of gloss black colors, used on the roof rack and outside mirror covers of the Signature Gravity trim, to the upper radiator grille, front and rear bumper lower garnishes, door garnishes, and 18- and 19-inch wheels, implementing a strong black concept.

Additionally, two exclusive interior colors, green and black, have been introduced for the 30th Anniversary Edition, maximizing luxury with newly quilted patterns and an expanded application of suede on leather seats. The headrests of the driver’s and passenger’s seats bear the 30th-anniversary logo, adding differentiated value.

The sales prices for The 2024 Sportage are as follows: ▲ 1.6 Turbo Gasoline 25,370,000 – 34,170,000 KRW ▲ 2.0 LPi 26,010,000 – 34,810,000 KRW ▲ 2.0 Diesel 27,890,000 – 36,690,000 KRW ▲ 1.6 Turbo Gasoline Hybrid 32,130,000 – 38,310,000 KRW. (※Hybrid models are subject to eco-car tax benefits.)

Meanwhile, to celebrate the launch of the Sportage 30th Anniversary Edition, Kia has released a brand film and organized a special exhibition, providing customers with opportunities to experience the innovative brand value of the Sportage in various ways.

The brand film connects the innovative brand spirit of the Sportage, launched in 1993 as the ‘world’s first urban SUV,’ with the iconic song ‘Hayohga’ by Seo Taiji, an icon of innovation in music launched in the same year. The film can be watched on social media channels such as YouTube.

From the 18th to the 27th of this month, Kia360, a complex brand experience space, will host an exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Sportage. The first and fifth-generation Sportage models, launched in 1993 and 2021 respectively, will be displayed side by side, alongside a digital exhibition showcasing the evolution of the Sportage through its second (2004), third (2010), and fourth (2015) generations.

A Kia representative stated, “Since its launch in 1993, the Sportage has consistently received customer love and acclaim, establishing itself as a key icon in the compact SUV market. With this 30th anniversary model, we aim to enhance the innovative and sophisticated image of the Sportage and strengthen the brand value built over the years, solidifying our position as the leading brand in the compact SUV market.”
