Polestar 2 Receives Major OTA Update: Elevating Apple CarPlay and Driving Range Assistant Features

Polestar is rolling out the P2.9 wireless software update, which includes new features and improvements for the Driving Range Assistant and Apple CarPlay.

OTA (Over-The-Air) updates allow for software improvements without the need to visit a service center, keeping the vehicle updated and enhancing its functionalities post-purchase.

The P2.9 update is the 15th upgrade since the first wireless software update for the Polestar 2 in 2020, with a focus on enhancing the Driving Range Assistant app and Apple CarPlay features.

The Driving Range Assistant app receives improvements, including a new algorithm that provides real-time feedback based on driver behavior, displaying instant energy consumption and energy consumption graphs for recent travel segments of 20/40/100 km. This aims to give drivers accurate information to boost energy efficiency.

Moreover, the Apple CarPlay update enhances convenience for drivers by displaying navigation through Apple Maps on the dashboard, along with home screen indicators for play/pause and next/previous buttons, media information, and call control via steering wheel buttons.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, stated, “We know how much our customers look forward to OTA updates, and I am confident that this update will receive acclaim for its new features and improvements. The enhanced Driving Range Assistant supports efficient driving with more accurate information, and the Apple CarPlay update boosts convenience by showing Apple Maps on the dashboard.”

This update marks the eighth wireless software update since the domestic launch of Polestar 2. A total of 38 items have been improved or added to date, with innovative updates planned for Q3, including the introduction of an app store, OTT platforms, an internet browser, and in-car payment features to provide a new level of experience.
