Porsche Korea Expands Urban Beekeeping Initiative to Support Bee Ecology

Porsche Korea announced on the 15th that they have expanded their ‘Believe in Dream’ initiative aimed at restoring bee ecosystems by establishing a new urban beekeeping site at Javier International School, located in the Jongno District of Seoul.

The urban beekeeping site installed on the roof of Javier International School is the second beehive facility created in the city following the bee garden established in 2020 in Daemosan. An estimated 100,000 bees are expected to inhabit the area.

Students will have the opportunity to participate directly in urban beekeeping, experiencing the ecological significance and value of bees. To contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, students belonging to the environmental protection club ‘Ecolix’ at Javier International School will manage the beekeeping site and participate in the honey harvesting process.

The event included representatives such as Holger Geermann from Porsche Korea, Park Jin from Urban Biz Seoul, Principal Jerome Pino from Javier International School, Vice Principal Moon Myeong-sook, and members of the Ecolix club, who experienced urban beekeeping and acknowledged the importance of bees.

This year, following Javier International School, Porsche Korea plans to set up an additional urban beekeeping site at the Yeouido Scout Building, further expanding the ‘Believe in Dream’ social contribution program.

Holger Geermann of Porsche Korea stated, “Following the bee garden in Daemosan for the citizens, we hope that through the urban beekeeping established in the school, students directly feel the value of endangered bees and biodiversity. In the future, we plan to continue expanding the ‘Believe in Dream’ program in various ways for environmental preservation and a sustainable ecosystem.”

In its third year, ‘Believe in Dream’ reflects the brand’s commitment to protecting flora and fauna and creating a sustainable future as part of the ‘Porsche Do Dream’ social contribution campaign. Porsche Korea aims to raise awareness of the environment and the precious value of bees by increasing the habitats of endangered bees and expanding green spaces composed of nectar plants through urban beekeeping.
