Hyundai Motor Group Drives Support for Busan World Expo 2030 with Electric Vehicles

Hyundai Motor Group is stepping up to support the bid for the Busan World Expo by leveraging electric vehicles.

During the 172nd General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) held in Paris from the 20th, Hyundai Motor Group will promote the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’ using dedicated electric vehicles. The company has provided 10 dedicated electric vehicles wrapped with the Busan logo for the South Korean delegation’s transportation.

This promotional activity aims to inform key figures from member countries and tourists visiting Paris about Busan, a candidate city for the World Expo.

The electric vehicles wrapped with the slogan ‘BUSAN is READY!’ will operate around major tourist attractions in Paris, including the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower. On the 21st, when the official reception for Korea will take place, they will be used as transportation for delegations between the assembly hall and the reception venue. The lineup includes Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle models such as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and EV6.

This BIE General Assembly is referred to as the ‘final hurdle’ for deciding the location of the 2030 World Expo. While the South Korean delegation conducts its fourth presentation amidst fierce competition for the bid, Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles serve as the face of Busan.

These wrapped vehicles are particularly eye-catching as they consist solely of dedicated electric models. This decision reflects the vision of the Busan World Expo, which seeks a sustainable future under the theme ‘A Great Transformation of the World, Navigating Towards a Better Future.’ Given that Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicles have recently dominated many ‘Car of the Year’ awards globally, it emphasizes the expo’s goal of carbon neutrality.

Hyundai Motor Group also made efforts last year to create a favorable atmosphere by utilizing eco-friendly vehicles. During the 170th and 171st BIE General Assemblies in June and November, wrapped vehicles featuring the Busan World Expo logo were operated around major tourist sites in Paris, such as the Ioniq 5, Kona Electric, and Tucson, showcasing Busan.

A representative from Hyundai Motor Group stated that “the dedicated electric vehicles featuring ‘Prepared Busan’ are dynamic tools of support navigating around Paris,” adding, “We will continue to actively promote Busan’s unique competitiveness and vision through various methods until the end.”
