Volvo Cars Donates Flagship SUVs to Support Future Automotive Talent

Volvo Cars Korea held a donation ceremony at Gachon University’s Global Campus in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, where they delivered their flagship SUV, the XC90, and the globally bestselling car, the XC60, for educational practice use.

This vehicle donation was conducted with the intention of supporting the discovery and cultivation of the next-generation talents that will lead the future automotive industry and contribute to the development of the Korean automotive industry and culture.

The XC90 delivered is a flagship SUV concentrated with advanced technology based on expertise in safety and a human-centered philosophy. Additionally, the XC60, which features the infotainment service and digital package developed in collaboration with T Map Mobility based on Google Android Automotive OS, was also donated. Volvo Cars hopes that through this vehicle donation, students will acquire knowledge of the evolving innovative technologies and gain a sense of future automotive technologies.

Song Kyung-ran, Executive Director of Volvo Cars Korea, stated, “We decided to donate vehicles to contribute to the nurturing of talent that will lead the new era of the automotive industry, evolving beyond just a means of transportation to new user and space experiences,” and added, “We will continue to strive in various ways to contribute to the development of the Korean automotive industry and culture in the future.”

Meanwhile, Volvo Cars Korea is carrying out various activities as part of its commitment to nurturing automotive industry talents. Since 2018, they have been operating the ‘Volvo Cars Apprentice Program’ for automotive major students from top universities in South Korea, providing specialized technical education and internship programs.
