Toyota Crown: A Fusion of Luxury and Innovation Arrives June 5

Toyota Korea will officially launch its flagship model, the ‘Crown’, on June 5, under the strategy of ‘Electrification for All’, with pre-orders starting from May 8 at official Toyota dealer showrooms nationwide.

Symbolizing Toyota’s ‘Innovation’ and ‘Challenge’, the ‘Crown’ debuted as Toyota’s first mass-produced model in 1955 and has evolved into a unique luxury brand over the past 69 years. The Crown, which evolved into its 16th generation last year, aims for ‘A Crown for a New Era’ and features a crossover that combines sedan and SUV elements, released in four types: sedan, sport, estate, and crossover.

The Crown officially launched in Korea will be the ‘Crown Crossover’ model, available with two powertrains: a 2.5-liter hybrid and a 2.4-liter dual-boost hybrid.

The Crown Crossover boasts a modern silhouette with a newly designed Crown emblem, a forward-looking hammerhead design on the front that emphasizes the vehicle’s width, and daytime running lights that span across the front. The rear features horizontal LED taillights and a unique design to reinforce the Crown’s identity.

The interior showcases an island architecture concept, offering an intuitive and comfortable space. The multi-information display spans 12.3 inches for excellent visibility, and the touch-type center display is equipped with the ‘Toyota Connect’ infotainment system. Additionally, it includes eight airbags and upgraded preventive safety specifications known as ‘Toyota Safety Sense’ to enhance driving safety.

The Crown enhances not only the new interior and exterior design but also quality, ride comfort, and driving sensations. Built on the TNGA-K platform, the Crown 2.5-liter hybrid model combines a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with an e-CVT (electronic continuously variable transmission) to provide a total system output of 239 horsepower.

The Crown’s 2.4-liter dual-boost hybrid model features a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine, a direct shift automatic 6-speed transmission, and the E-Four Advanced system equipped with a high-output water-cooled rear motor, providing enhanced motor output and performance.

The Crown uses a bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery that positively contributes to fuel efficiency. This battery structure minimizes electrical resistance and enhances the output of each battery cell. When motor output is required, high battery currents are utilized to improve the responsiveness of the accelerator operation, delivering powerful yet smooth acceleration.

According to Mr. Kang Dae-hwan, Senior Managing Director of Toyota Korea, “The Toyota Crown is the second model on the path of Toyota’s new transition, following the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) model launched in February. We hope you can meet the newly reborn Crown crossover at your nearest Toyota showroom.”
