Unveiling the All-New Volkswagen Touareg: A Blend of Luxury and Advanced Technology

Volkswagen has unveiled the facelifted model of the advanced flagship SUV, the Touareg, which has seen global cumulative sales of over 1.13 million units. The new Touareg is equipped with enhanced features such as the new IQ.LIGHT HD LED matrix headlights, a new Innovision cockpit, and roof load sensors, reflecting Volkswagen’s latest design language with a rugged yet sophisticated style. Additionally, it features Volkswagen’s new illuminated logo, emphasizing a futuristic image.

Imelda Lave, a member of the Board of Management responsible for sales, marketing, and after-sales at Volkswagen, explained, “The Touareg is a model that impresses customers with its top-notch quality and differentiated comfort. The new Touareg, armed with a more refined design, intuitive operation, and enhanced driving feel, is a true all-rounder that provides satisfaction both on-road and off-road.”

Kai Grünitz, a board member responsible for brand development at Volkswagen, stated, “The Touareg is a pioneer in technology, showcasing new innovations that will be applied to other Volkswagen models in the future. The new HD LED matrix headlights, which brightly illuminate the driving view of the Touareg, will also be expanded to other SUV models within the brand.”

The new Touareg inherits a confident style while reflecting Volkswagen’s latest design language. The front has been enhanced with a wider radiator grille and a new front apron design, while IQ.LIGHT HD LED matrix headlights come standard on all models except the basic trim. The illuminated strip across the headlights that intersects with the radiator grille, centered around the Volkswagen logo, accentuates the unique presence of the Touareg.

For the first time in the Volkswagen brand, the IQ.LIGHT HD LED matrix headlights consist of a total of 38,432 micro LED elements, allowing each micro LED to operate individually for driver interaction. The ‘Rain Light’ function can project driving lanes onto the road surface, maximizing convenience and safety characteristics unique to a flagship SUV.

The rear of the new Touareg features an LED light bar that spans across the tailgate. In the center of the horizontally connected taillights, a red illuminated Volkswagen logo completes the unique light graphic of the new Touareg, creating a distinctive silhouette.

Additionally, the new Touareg offers completely redesigned 19 to 21-inch alloy wheels, which vary based on specifications and trims. When the doors are opened, the Volkswagen logo or high-performance ‘R’ logo is illuminated, showcasing the brand’s unique essence even in the dark.

The new Touareg is equipped with a wide range of advanced specifications befitting its flagship SUV status. Features include the driving assistance feature ‘Travel Assist’, which supports driving in all speed ranges up to the maximum speed, a 360-degree ‘Area View’, ‘Park Assist Plus’ for remote parking capability, ‘Trailer Assist’ that enhances driving stability while towing a trailer, and ‘Night Vision’ functionality for clearer visibility at night.

A newly developed roof load sensor has been added to the new Touareg. This sensor detects weight when roof boxes or similar devices are mounted on the vehicle roof and optimizes the electronic stability control and electronically controlled suspension system. This helps to ensure optimized driving stability during everyday driving as well as leisure activities.

The new Innovision cockpit consists of a 12-inch digital cockpit and a 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system, standard across all models of the new Touareg.

The two displays adopt a ‘one-screen design’ that is interconnected, allowing for convenient operation by the driver. Enhanced voice recognition functions and wireless app connect (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto) capabilities are also standard.

The interior of the new Touareg has been enhanced to reflect the diverse opinions of customers, providing a more comfortable and luxurious environment. Many interior materials, including door panels and the center console, have been improved with soft-touch materials, while the volume control dial and buttons have been upgraded for a more premium feel.

To ensure convenience during long journeys, the USB-C charging ports now support three times the power output compared to previous models, allowing charging for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and even laptops. The illuminated trim, which decorates the interior elaborately, has been designed in a new form and features the new ‘Touareg’ logo. Moreover, a 730W Dynaudio sound system and a heads-up display option for enhanced driving convenience are also available.

The new Touareg has achieved a higher level of comfort and agile performance through improved design in both standard suspension and optional air suspension. Depending on the trim, the new Touareg will feature active rolling control and all-wheel steering functions.

The new Touareg offers five powertrain options. The 3.0L V6 gasoline turbo model delivers a maximum output of 340 horsepower, while the 3.0L V6 diesel model is available in two choices: 231 horsepower and 286 horsepower. Additionally, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) combines the 3.0L V6 gasoline turbo engine with an electric motor, producing a system output of 381 horsepower. The high-performance PHEV, the Touareg R e-hybrid, delivers a system output of 462 horsepower.

All models are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and feature an advanced 4Motion all-wheel-drive system as standard. Apart from the Touareg R e-hybrid, each model comes in three trims: Basic, Elegance R-Line, and more.

Since its launch in 2002, the Touareg has become Volkswagen’s flagship SUV, with over 1.13 million units sold worldwide. The third-generation model has become a global favorite, selling over 200,000 units thanks to its overwhelming advanced specifications and luxurious driving feel.

The third-generation Touareg is recognized as a flagship SUV for reasonable customers, equipped with class-leading specifications, driving performance, and competitive pricing in the South Korean market, as well as a large family SUV filled with rich advanced features.
