Rolls-Royce Unveils the Ethereal ‘Blue Shadow’ Bespoke Cullinan Collection

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled the bespoke model that captures the mysteries and beauty of the universe, the Black Badge Cullinan ‘Blue Shadow’ Private Collection.

The Blue Shadow Collection, based on the powerful Black Badge Cullinan, draws inspiration from the ‘Kármán line,’ the boundary where Earth’s atmosphere ends and space begins. The vehicle’s exterior features a newly crafted bespoke paint color called ‘Stardust Blue,’ embodying the deep blue of the upper atmosphere.

The satin-finished grille surround and aerodynamic bumper evoke the heat shield tiles that protect a returning space shuttle upon re-entry into the atmosphere.

The iconic Spirit of Ecstasy figurine, a symbol of Rolls-Royce, is crafted from titanium, an aerospace material. It is coated with a thin layer of blue lacquer after undergoing advanced 3D printing techniques and precision machining, enhancing its titanium texture while adding a pearl-like sheen.

The base of the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine is inscribed with the infinity logo symbolizing the Black Badge and the collection’s name, ‘Blue Shadow,’ filled with the Charles Blue color to highlight the unique charm of the collection.

The semi-transparent lacquer-finished wheels radiate a subtly dark light, completing the exterior.

The interior space captures the enchanting beauty of the universe. The fascia and door panels are coated with six layers of paint to create a captivating three-dimensional effect that represents the moment when the blue sky integrates into the darkness of space. Additionally, a clear coat with glass particles gives depth and luster to the finish. The bespoke watch that completes the fascia features the collection name engraved on it, along with a unique bright blue anodized decoration that emphasizes its exclusivity.

The ceiling is equipped with the ‘Edge of Space’ starlight headliner. This artwork depicts the moon and surrounding stars, filling the interior with a gentle light and wonder, giving passengers a mystical feeling as if they are on the brink of the universe. The complex surface of the moon is crafted from five different colored threads, with a total of 250,000 stitches, while the starlight headliner is meticulously embroidered with 1,183 fiber-optic ‘stars,’ including 799 white and 384 blue, all done by hand.

Moreover, the Blue Shadow Collection’s front and rear seats showcase a unique artwork that employs perforation techniques for the first time in Rolls-Royce history. Each seat features over 75,000 perforations, creating the appearance of clouds continuously swirling over continents and oceans, evoking a special feeling as if gazing at Earth from space. Designing the pattern took two weeks, and achieving the highest level of quality worthy of the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective required five attempts.

The perforation pattern of the seats extends to the picnic table installed on the rear seatbacks. The picnic table is finished with piano black veneer and glass sparkle treatment, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of darkness in space. Each table features a phrase that encapsulates the collection’s theme, engraved in polished aluminum.

Additionally, unique accessories that complement the Blue Shadow Collection have been created. These accessories include an interior cover featuring the perforation pattern depicted on the seats and a luggage set that matches the color combinations of the Blue Shadow Collection. Customers also have the option to order a scaled 1:8 model of the Blue Shadow Collection.

Torsten Müller Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, stated, “With the Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow Collection, we embark on an adventure inspired by the legendary Kármán line, and through this collection, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective has once again transcended limits, symbolizing our relentless pursuit of perfection and spirit of exploration.”

The Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow Private Collection is only available for order through the Private Office, the bespoke experience space operated by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Limited to just 62 units, this collection symbolizes the 62-mile distance from Earth to the Kármán line and has already been allocated to customers worldwide.
