Mercedes-Benz Korea has officially launched the high-performance pure electric luxury business sedan, the ‘New Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+’ in the domestic market.
The New Mercedes-AMG EQE is the second high-performance electric sedan introduced by the high-performance brand Mercedes-AMG. Equipped with AMG’s dedicated electric dual motor, it features AMG exclusive solutions in sound, exterior and interior design, and various options, delivering a sporty and attractive driving experience unique to AMG, boasting the fastest acceleration among the electric vehicles introduced by Mercedes-Benz.
Park Yang-won, Executive Director of Product Strategy Planning at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “Following the completion of electric vehicles across all segments in 2022 according to our electrification strategy, Mercedes-Benz is extending its electric vehicle portfolio to the high-performance brand AMG. The New AMG EQE will combine the technical expertise and unique emotional appeal of Mercedes-AMG, presenting the future of electric driving performance with sportiness and dynamic driving experiences.”
The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG EQE incorporates features of progressive luxury found in the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle models while prominently expressing characteristic elements unique to AMG.
The front of the New AMG EQE features a luxurious AMG-specific black panel radiator grille, integrating a chrome vertical strut with the Mercedes-Benz star logo and AMG lettering. Furthermore, the front splitter highlights its AMG identity with high gloss black and chrome trim.
The exterior design of the New AMG EQE does not overlook aerodynamic efficiency. Both sides are equipped with high-gloss black air diffusers designed to create the ‘air curtain’ effect.
AMG-specific side skirts, an AMG-specific rear apron with an aerodynamically optimized diffuser, and a larger rear spoiler complete the dynamic exterior of the AMG EQE.
The interior features the signature sporty styling of AMG. This includes special seat covers made from micro-cut suede with red top stitching, AMG Nappa leather seats, an AMG performance steering wheel made of Nappa leather, AMG sports pedals engraved with AMG lettering, AMG floor mats, and illuminated door sill trims, all conveying the sporty essence unique to AMG.
Additionally, it comes standard with the innovative MBUX Hyperscreen, which seamlessly merges three displays in the driver’s seat, passenger seat, and central display, enhancing the visual appeal across the entire interior.
The New Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with a high-performance battery that utilizes the latest lithium-ion technology, providing a driving range of up to 354 km (based on domestic certification) on a single charge, along with support for rapid charging up to 170 kW. The battery installed in the AMG EQE is configured to best leverage AMG’s characteristics, ensuring optimal battery operating temperatures through a battery management system and efficient thermal management.
The AMG-exclusive electric motor in the New AMG EQE achieves the optimal balance of powerful performance, efficiency, and noise stability. It features the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel-drive system, distributing torque between the front and rear axles according to driving conditions, responding faster than traditional mechanical all-wheel-drive systems.
The EQE 53 4MATIC+ boasts an impressive output of 460 kW and a maximum torque of 950 Nm, achieving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating electric vehicle among all present Mercedes models.
The New Mercedes-AMG EQE comes standard with rear axle steering, supporting a maximum steering angle of 3.6 degrees for agile handling. Additionally, it features AMG’s AirMatic air suspension optimized for dynamic driving, increasing safety and comfort.
Moreover, with the AMG Dynamic Select system, drivers can tailor engine, transmission, and handling settings to their preferences and driving conditions, offering five driving modes: ‘Slippery’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘Sport+’, and ‘Individual’, allowing for a range of driving experiences from comfort to sportiness.
To ensure efficient driving, the cooling system activates automatically according to each driving mode, along with paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel that offer three levels of energy recovery modes (D+, D, D-) and a D Auto mode that automatically sets regenerative braking.
The New AMG EQE is equipped with advanced driving assistance systems and premium convenience features unique to Mercedes-Benz and AMG that enhance the driving experience.
The Driving Assistance Package Plus, a standard feature from Mercedes-Benz, intelligently connects camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensor systems to analyze the surrounding environment to assist in speed control, lane changes, and steering at the right moments. It includes Pre-Safe, which detects hazardous situations before accidents occur to minimize passenger damage, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side, which protects front-seat occupants in the event of a side collision.
Additionally, the AMG EQE incorporates special speakers, bass actuators, and sound generators, providing an auditory experience that captures the AMG driving soul. Through the ‘AMG Sound Experience’, it offers an ‘Authentic’ sound that adjusts tone and intensity according to the driving condition and mode, adjustable in three levels: ‘Balance’, ‘Sport’, and ‘Powerful’.
Furthermore, advanced features including ▲ an air purification package with a large HEPA filter, ▲ remote parking package, ▲ MBUX augmented reality navigation, and ▲ Burmester surround sound system have also been included.
The price of the New Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+, including VAT, is 143.8 million won, available for purchase at 64 official Mercedes showrooms nationwide and through the online sales platform ‘Mercedes-Benz Store’.
