KG Mobility’s First Online Live Car Auction Sets Major Records

KG Mobility announced on the 10th that it successfully completed the first-ever online live car auction event in South Korea.

The ‘KG Mobility Auction,’ conducted through the online live commerce platform ‘Grip’ on the 8th and 9th of April at the KG Mobility booth during the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show in Goyang, attracted a total of over 250,000 participants, with about 120,000 logged in on the first day and 130,000 on the second.

The auction, hosted by broadcaster Kim Tae-jin, included pre-event activities that provided fuel vouchers, department store gift cards, Bluetooth speakers, and car wash gift sets through various games, engaging visitors at the KG Mobility booth. The main auction, led by auctioneer Kim Min-seo, further heightened the lively atmosphere.

The first auction on the 8th started with the off-road racing concept vehicle, the Torres, at a price discounted by 34% to 31.8 million won, and after competitive bidding, it sold for an extraordinary 46.2 million won to a participant nicknamed ‘Still Smiling.’ The following auction for a camping concept version of the Torres began at 31.6 million won (23% discount) and concluded with a bid of 38 million won from ‘Moon Jang-soo,’ making him the second winner.

The heat of the auction intensified on the 9th. Due to aggressive bidding that exceeded the total vehicle price, the auction temporarily paused for re-bidding, showcasing the popularity for the fully dressed-up New Rexton Sports Khan.

The first auction vehicle of the day, the New Rexton Sports Khan, was initially priced at a discount of 33% at 40.2 million won and featured enhancements for overlanding, such as a rooftop tent and inch-up installations, making it fully optimized for off-road outdoor activities. Moon Jang-soo, who also participated in the previous Torres auction, placed a winning bid of 58.7 million won, which was 18.5 million won above the starting price.

The second auction featured the New Rexton Sports Khan, with customization costs totaling 26.46 million won, optimized for various work functions through the installation of UTE BOX and other features. This final auction began at a reduced price of 40.4 million won and culminated with participant SMTC bidding 58.9 million won, securing the last win of the day.

If any of the four final buyers from the ‘KG Mobility Auction’ need to withdraw for personal reasons, opportunities to purchase will be offered to the top ten bidders from the event.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, which opened on March 31 and closed on April 9, successfully attracted over 510,000 visitors during its ten-day run. The KG Mobility booth, showcasing a total of 17 models including the Torres EVX, Torres TX, O100, F00, and KR10 design concept models, was praised by onsite reporters as the most visually enriching display.
