Unleashing Adventure: The All-New Land Rover Defender 130 Launches in Korea

Jaguar Land Rover Korea officially launches the All-New Defender 130, an 8-passenger off-roader that showcases the ultimate performance of the Defender, which has defined all-terrain driving capabilities and toughness.

Carrying on the pioneering spirit of Land Rover’s 75-year history, the All-New Defender 130 offers spacious interior room for up to 8 passengers and innovative all-terrain technologies that redefine adventure in the 21st century. It is introduced in two trims in Korea: the All-New Defender 130 P400 X Dynamic HSE, equipped with a powerful mild-hybrid gasoline engine, and the D300 X Dynamic HSE model, which features an efficient MHEV diesel engine.

Continuing the iconic silhouette of the Defender, the All-New Defender 130 makes a strong statement on the road, with its long wheelbase and tall frame giving it a formidable presence capable of conquering any path. Despite its length, the All-New Defender 130 maintains unparalleled off-road geometry with approach and departure angles of 37.5° and 28.5°, respectively, thanks to its short front and rear overhangs.

The Sedona Red color option, exclusive to the All-New Defender 130 model, adds a touch of uniqueness.

The spare wheel cover matches the body color, completing a more luxurious design. The black body cladding, contrast roof, and roof rails are standard, enhancing the vehicle’s striking appearance.

Compared to the All-New Defender 110, the All-New Defender 130 extends the rear overhang by about 340mm, allowing a spacious third-row seat for three adult passengers. The third-row seat features a class-leading width of 1,200mm and a legroom of 804mm, with angular silhouette design providing ample headroom. Seats are arranged in a 2+3+3 configuration to accommodate up to 8 adults, and the second and third rows are designed in the unique Stadium Style of Land Rover, offering outstanding visibility from every seat.

The All-New Defender 130 provides a practical cargo capacity with 389L of trunk space even with the third-row seats in use and a 40:20:40 split-folding feature for versatile seating arrangements. When both the second and third rows are folded down, the cargo space expands to 2,291L.

The D7x architecture applied to the All-New Defender 130 provides a sturdy foundation based on a lightweight aluminum monocoque structure with high torsional rigidity of up to 25,000Nm/°. This body structure supports a towing capability of up to 3,000kg, along with fully independent air suspension, a two-speed transfer box, and an intelligent four-wheel drive system.

All versions of the All-New Defender 130 come with an electronic air suspension system that can raise the front by 71.5mm and the rear by 73.5mm for an increased ground clearance of up to 430mm in off-road situations, providing for a maximum wading depth of 900mm. The air suspension automatically lowers the vehicle by 50mm compared to on-road settings for easier entry and exit when the seatbelt is unbuckled. Additionally, the adaptive dynamics system works with the electronic air suspension, predicting the body’s response to the driver’s actions to control rolling and pitching. It monitors the road surface 500 times per second to adjust the suspension for improved ride comfort.

Furthermore, the All-New Defender 130 is equipped with the latest off-road technologies, including a two-speed transfer box that provides precise speed control in on-road driving, as well as in steep or off-road conditions, and during towing. The automatic terrain response system allows the driver to manually select driving conditions based on terrain and road conditions, while the active rear locking differential ensures optimal traction and off-road performance even in challenging conditions such as icy or sandy surfaces and high-speed cornering.

The All-New Defender 130 is powered by Ingenium 3.0-liter I6 gasoline and diesel engines equipped with MHEV technology, delivering a powerful yet efficient powertrain lineup. The P400 X Dynamic HSE model with the new 3.0-liter I6 Ingenium gasoline engine features a lightweight aluminum structure, twin-scroll turbocharger, and 48V supercharger, generating a maximum output of 400PS and a peak torque of 56.1kg.m, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.6 seconds.

The D300 X Dynamic HSE model featuring the Ingenium 3.0-liter I6 diesel engine offers a maximum output of 300PS and a peak torque of 66.3kg.m, reaching 100km/h from a standstill in 7.5 seconds.

The All-New Defender 130 comes equipped with a larger 11.4-inch curved glass screen that allows for effective control over various vehicle functions through a clear and intuitive display. The latest infotainment system, Pivi Pro, provides outstanding connectivity. With just two taps, 90% of the total functions are accessible, and it includes T-map navigation from T-map Mobility, Korea’s most popular navigation service, for higher convenience.

Drivers can easily monitor navigation through the high-resolution 12.3-inch interactive driver display. The SOTA (Software-Over-the-Air) feature keeps the vehicle updated without having to visit a service center.

Robin Colgan, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, stated, “The All-New Defender evolves based on respect for the original Defender, equipped with cutting-edge 21st-century technology that excites adventurers with its outstanding capabilities. With seating for up to 8 people, I hope that through the All-New Defender 130, everyone can experience Land Rover’s adventurous spirit during comfortable family journeys.”

The All-New Defender 130 will be available in two trims. The launch prices in Korea include 142,170,000 won for the P400 X Dynamic HSE model and 137,070,000 won for the D300 X Dynamic HSE model, both coming with a 5-year service plan package. Detailed information about the All-New Defender 130 can be checked on the official Land Rover website, and orders can be placed through the online store.
