Lamborghini Shatters Sales and Profit Records in 2022

Lamborghini sold 9,233 units worldwide in 2022, surpassing €2 billion in revenue and achieving its best performance ever. Operating profit reached €614 million, a remarkable increase of 56% compared to the previous year.

Lamborghini achieved its highest revenue and profitability ever in 2022, surpassing the previous records set in 2021.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman of Lamborghini, stated, “The Lamborghini business continues to grow, achieving yet another remarkable goal in 2022,” adding, “We are ready to face many challenges and changes awaiting us in 2023 and will continue to move forward to the next stages.”

Lamborghini’s revenue for 2022 amounted to €2.38 billion, equivalent to approximately 3.3 trillion Korean Won. This is a 22% increase compared to 2021, and more than double the revenue from 2017. The operating profit for 2022 reached €614 million. Moreover, the operating profit margin has increased for five consecutive years, achieving an unprecedented rate of 25.9%, the highest among luxury vehicle brands.

Paolo Poma, Lamborghini’s Chief Financial Officer, remarked, “While the economic and geopolitical conditions have been challenging in recent years, we have demonstrated our resilience and capability,” stating that “the figures from 2022 indicate that there can be an optimistic outlook for the growth of the brand and the company.”

2022 set a record for deliveries with 9,233 units, marking the highest number in Lamborghini’s history. By continent, Asia saw the largest increase, rising by 14% compared to the previous year, followed by the Americas at 10% and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) at 7%. By country, the United States sold the most units at 2,721, followed by China, Hong Kong, and Macau at 1,018 units, and Germany at 808 units, while South Korea recorded 403 units, making it the eighth largest market globally.

By model, the super SUV Urus led the charge with 5,367 units delivered (a 7% increase over 2021). It was followed by the Huracán (3,113 units, a 20% increase) and the Aventador (753 units), which ended production in September 2022.

This year marks Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary and the dawn of a new era. The company is set to launch its first plug-in hybrid super sports car this year, which will be the first step towards the hybridization of its entire model lineup.

Lamborghini is implementing an electrification roadmap called ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ until 2024, aiming for an ambitious investment of €2.5 billion in its electrification plans by 2028, which is the largest investment in the company’s history.
