Lamborghini Seoul’s Lee Changwoo Set to Represent Korea in 2023 Super Trofeo Asia Race

Lamborghini Seoul announced on the 17th that it will hire Lee Changwoo, a domestic racer and Chief Instructor at Lamborghini Seoul, as an official driver for the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Race.

The 2023 Super Trofeo Race, organized by Lamborghini’s motorsports team, Squadra Corse, will take place across four continents and three series, marking the first event in three years. Each series will start from May 2023 and will consist of six rounds, with the Grand Final to be held at Vallelunga, Italy, from November 18 to 19.

After resuming in three years post the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Race has included South Korea as one of its venues for the 2023 season, greatly exciting motorsports fans. Furthermore, the announcement of a Korean driver participating throughout the entire season is expected to generate more buzz. While a Korean driver has participated in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Race event in the past, this will be the first time that a driver competes for an entire season.

Lee Changwoo, a professional driver currently competing in the Super Race GT class, is a seasoned veteran who has adorned multiple podiums. He has collaborated with Lamborghini as a Chief Instructor during the Lamborghini Driving Experience and various other Lamborghini organized events in Korea.

Kim Jongbok, CEO of Lamborghini Seoul, expressed high expectations for Lee Changwoo’s participation in the Super Trofeo Race, stating, “Lee Changwoo, who has thoroughly understood the characteristics of Lamborghini while working as our Chief Instructor, will represent South Korea in this race that is being held after three years. I am confident that he will elevate the status of South Korea in international motorsport competitions along with Lamborghini Seoul.” He added, “In the future, we plan to convey the motorsport culture of the Lamborghini brand to our domestic customers through various events, including the Super Trofeo Race.”

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Race is recognized as the fastest one-make race globally, utilizing the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2, equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine delivering a maximum output of 620 horsepower, and exceptional aerodynamic design generating the highest downforce. Unlike other races where performance is vital, in one-make events, results are primarily determined by the driver’s skills.

This year’s Super Trofeo race will see Korean Tire as the exclusive tire supplier, promising an even more special experience for the Korean market. The tires, specially designed for the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2, will be used across all three series on four continents.
