Hyundai Ioniq 6 Achieves Top Efficiency Rating in the U.S.

The base model of the Hyundai Electric Sedan Ioniq 6, featuring two-wheel drive and a long range, has received an EPA certification for a maximum driving range of 581 km on a single charge. (※ Rear-wheel drive long-range base model, based on 18-inch wheels)

The same model records a combined efficiency of 140 MPGe. MPGe indicates the distance that an electric vehicle can travel using the equivalent cost of one gallon of gasoline, expressed in miles.

This is among the highest levels for electric vehicles currently on sale in the U.S., surpassing the efficiency of all vehicles in the ‘Top 10’ list published by FuelEconomy, operated by the U.S. government.

Hyundai has led the development of the Ioniq 6 by uniting various departments within the research center, focusing on achieving ‘the best aerodynamics’ in design and engineering from the early stages of development.

As a result, the Ioniq 6 has achieved a remarkable drag coefficient of 0.21, the lowest in Hyundai’s history, placing it among the top ranks of existing electric vehicles and significantly contributing to its increased driving range on a single charge.

A representative from Hyundai expressed, “We are very pleased to see the Ioniq 6 achieve the best efficiency rating in the U.S. As the efficient energy consumption of electric vehicles is an important purchase criterion for consumers, we expect it to play a positive role in sales.”
