Hyundai Opens First Permanent Eco-Friendly Experience Center in Kyoto, Japan

Hyundai Motor Company is establishing its first permanent location in the Kansai region of Japan where customers can experience eco-friendly vehicles such as the Ioniq 5 and Nexo.

The Korean automaker’s subsidiary in Japan, Hyundai Mobility Japan, will open the ‘Hyundai Mobility Lounge Kyoto Shijo’ on Saturday, February 4.

The Hyundai Mobility Lounge is a specialized hub in Japan that serves as an experiential space for customers, while also increasing touchpoints with local customers and offering a range of eco-friendly car lifestyles.

Local customers will be able to get hands-on experiences with electric vehicles such as the Ioniq 5 and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle Nexo, including test drives, as well as purchase consultations and after-sales services.

Hyundai Mobility Lounge Kyoto Shijo is located within a complex shopping space called ‘A-PIT AutoBox Kyoto Shijo,’ which offers automobile-related products as well as clothing and various goods related to car life. A-PIT AutoBox Kyoto Shijo is the flagship store of the Japanese automotive product and service specialist, AutoBox Seven Group.

With the opening of Hyundai Mobility Lounge Kyoto Shijo, Hyundai plans to strengthen its collaboration with AutoBox. The two companies will consider various partnerships, including utilizing AutoBox’s maintenance centers as Hyundai’s collaborative repair shop in Japan.

Hyundai has actively promoted the establishment of experiential hubs in major regions of Japan. Prior to Kyoto, the automaker opened ‘Hyundai Mobility Marunouchi’ last June at the Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo Hotel, located in Tokyo’s economic and financial center.

Last October, they also opened urban showroom ‘Hyundai City Store’ in Nagoya and Fukuoka, and in July last year, established the ‘Hyundai Customer Experience Center’ in Yokohama, which serves as the first direct customer center and offline hub in Japan.

A Hyundai official commented, “The ‘Hyundai Mobility Lounge Kyoto Shijo’ is the first permanent hub in the Kansai region, allowing local customers to more easily experience Hyundai’s eco-friendly vehicles. We also expect that buying customers will have increased convenience in maintaining and receiving services.” He added, “Hyundai will only sell eco-friendly vehicles in Japan and will actively strive to realize its vision of carbon neutrality.”
