Introducing the 2023 DEXEN: Tata Daewoo’s New Mid-Size Truck Shines with Modern Upgrades

Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles has launched the partial facelift model of its mid-size truck, the ‘2023 DEXEN’.

The DEXEN has received positive feedback from customers in the market since its release in 2020 due to its convenience and efficiency. This mid-size truck, with a payload capacity of 3 to 5 tons, is now entering sales with the main concept of ‘driver-focused concentrated space’.

The new ‘2023 DEXEN’ unveiled by Tata Daewoo has significantly upgraded its interior, creating a more efficient and convenient environment for commercial drivers who spend considerable time in their vehicles.

The dashboard features a luxurious high-gloss material that enhances the overall aesthetic, with a bold yet refined layered construction paired with contrasting detailed two-tone patterns that provide a sophisticated ambiance. To maximize driving convenience, an extra 5 cm of space has been secured between the dashboard and the seat compared to the previous model, optimizing space utilization.

For the first time in the mid-size segment, a full HD meter cluster has been applied, combining stylish design with efficient digital functionality. The new 10.25-inch AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) system, the largest available in mid-size trucks, supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, emphasizing driving convenience and visual satisfaction. Additionally, ambient lighting, which was predominantly found in premium imported cars, has been integrated into the dashboard and doors to create an inviting interior atmosphere.

Furthermore, various systems designed for driver convenience have been introduced, including the ‘Connected Car’ service known as ‘CEN Link’, a remote start button for the smart key, and optimized space in the overhead and center consoles.

The exterior design of the ‘2023 DEXEN’ also reflects a forward-looking evolution. The strong black large side mirrors, typically found in larger trucks, express the robust power of the ‘2023 DEXEN’, while the front bumper, integrated with the large front grille, provides a sleek and cohesive look with the overall vehicle color.

The character line on the front panel, the design’s focal point, has been simplified, and at its center lies the new ‘DEXEN’ emblem, representing the completion of the family look and anchoring the overall design.

In conjunction with the launch of the ‘2023 DEXEN’, Tata Daewoo has changed the English naming of the previous ‘the CEN’ to ‘DEXEN’, uniting it with their large truck ‘MAXEN’ and mid-size truck ‘KUXEN’ under the strong truck meaning of ‘XEN’.

The English name ‘DEXEN’ combines the initials of ‘Designed Efficiency’ with Tata Daewoo’s brand identity ‘XEN’, signifying a ‘mid-size truck designed for maximum efficiency’.

The launch price of the ‘2023 DEXEN’ ranges from approximately 56 million KRW to 60 million KRW for the standard model based on the 4-ton long wheelbase, and from approximately 66 million KRW to the upper 60 million KRW for the 5-ton long wheelbase. Despite significant enhancements in interior and exterior features, Tata Daewoo has maintained a competitive pricing policy, minimizing price increases between 3 million KRW and 5 million KRW compared to the previous model, maximizing real benefits for customers.

Kim Bang-shin, CEO of Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles, stated, “The DEXEN marks the starting point of a shift in Tata Daewoo’s direction, and we aimed to showcase a sophisticated image and driver-centric conveniences through the ‘2023 DEXEN’. He added, “With the transformed 2023 DEXEN leading the charge, we will continue to be an evolving Tata Daewoo that instills trust in our customers.”

The DEXEN is equipped with a powerful engine with the highest output in its class, excellent braking performance with full air brakes, and applies ZF’s latest 8-speed automatic transmission for the first time in the commercial vehicle industry, delivering high driving convenience and efficiency. By achieving the highest payload capacity in its class, it sets a new standard in tone categories (3 tons, 4 tons, 5 tons), and based on its excellent load capacity, it offers a wide cargo bed of 2,280 mm across all models, attracting strong market responsiveness.
