The Korean Automobile Journalist Association has selected the Mercedes-Benz The New EQS SUV as the Car of the Month for February 2023.
This month’s vehicle was evaluated by the Car of the Year Selection Committee, which assesses new cars and facelifts released from the 1st to the end of each month.
The evaluation consists of five categories: ▲ Interior/Exterior Design and Emotional Quality ▲ Safety and Convenience Features ▲ Power Performance ▲ Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Emissions ▲ Marketability and Purchase Intent.
Among the new vehicles introduced last month, the Mercedes-Benz The New EQS SUV and Hyundai Motor’s The All-New Kona (in alphabetical order) were nominated for Car of the Month in February. After fierce competition, The New EQS SUV was ultimately selected with a score of 34 points (out of 50).
The New EQS SUV received a score of 8.7 points (out of 10) in energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions, 7.7 points in power performance, and 6.7 points in safety and convenience features.
Lee Seung-yong, president of the Korean Automobile Journalist Association, stated, “The New EQS SUV is the first luxury electric SUV based on Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle architecture, offering a maximum electric range of 459km and powerful driving performance.” He added, “It features aerodynamic exterior design, a spacious interior, and diverse convenience and safety specifications that provide a luxurious driving experience.”
