2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace: Expanded Options for SUV Enthusiasts

Volkswagen Korea is introducing two new trims, the 2.0 TDI Premium and 2.0 TDI Prestige, to enhance the market competitiveness of the Tiguan Allspace, which previously featured only a single gasoline model trim.

The Tiguan Allspace is the long-wheelbase version of the Tiguan, which surpassed 60,000 units in cumulative sales, making it the first imported SUV to achieve this milestone in Korea. After the launch of the new Tiguan Allspace in August 2022, it gained popularity with a total of 2,231 units sold within around five months due to high demand from customers.

Following the existing Tiguan Allspace 2.0 TSI Prestige model, Volkswagen Korea is launching the 2.0 TDI Premium and 2.0 TDI Prestige trims for customers seeking excellent driving performance suited for long-distance travel and high fuel efficiency.

On the 13th of last month, following the resumption of deliveries for all models, Volkswagen Korea has officially begun customer deliveries for the Tiguan Allspace from today.

“Last year, the 7-seater Tiguan Allspace gasoline model was loved by domestic customers for its excellent product offerings and quiet driving performance. This year, I am pleased to introduce diesel models for customers needing high torque as well as improved fuel efficiency,” said Sasha Asikian, CEO of Volkswagen Korea. “We will continue to launch SUV models that reflect customer needs for ‘accessible premium,’ along with diverse powertrains that cater to various customer lifestyles,” he added.

The 2023 Tiguan Allspace is offered with two powertrain options: the existing 2.0 TSI gasoline direct injection turbocharged engine and the next-generation EA288 evo 2.0 TDI engine featuring ‘twin dosing technology.’

The newly introduced Tiguan Allspace 2.0 TDI Premium and 2.0 TDI Prestige models feature the advanced EA288 evo 2.0 TDI engine with innovative ‘twin dosing technology,’ reducing nitrogen oxides by approximately 80% compared to the previous generation engine. Combined with Volkswagen’s 7-speed DSG transmission, it delivers a peak output of 150 horsepower (3,000–4,200 rpm) and a maximum torque of 36.7 kg.m (1,600–2,750 rpm), offering a relaxed performance.

The combined fuel efficiency for the 2.0 TDI Premium and 2.0 TDI Prestige models is 14.6 km/l (urban 13.3 km/l, highway 16.7 km/l), providing remarkable performance while ensuring low emissions and high fuel efficiency.

The 2.0 TSI Prestige model, known for its quiet and stable driving performance, is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering a peak output of 186 horsepower (4,400–6,000 rpm) and maximum torque of 30.6 kg.m. It offers a combined fuel efficiency of 10.1 km/l (urban 9.0 km/l, highway 11.9 km/l), and is classified as a low-emission eco-friendly vehicle, allowing for discounts in public parking lots, subway transfer parking lots, and airport parking.

With a long wheelbase of 2,790 mm, the Tiguan Allspace is equipped with two additional seats in the third row, providing generous interior space and high space utilization simultaneously. The third row can be folded based on the driver’s lifestyle and purpose, allowing for spacious cargo room, or it can serve its role as a 7-seater SUV when not folded.

The trunk capacity provides up to 1,775L of vast loading space when both the second and third rows are folded. When the third-row seat is folded, it offers 700L, and with both the second and third-row seats unfolded, it provides a cargo space of 230L. Additionally, a 230V power outlet is installed in the trunk for convenience during outdoor activities such as camping and leisure.

The 2023 Tiguan Allspace is equipped with a rich array of advanced driver assistance systems to ensure safe and comfortable driving for all drivers.

Utilizing the vehicle’s front camera, radar sensors, and ultrasonic sensors, Volkswagen’s advanced driver assistance system ‘IQ. Drive – Travel Assist’ integrates features such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and side assist, included across all trims. Additionally, the ‘Proactive Occupant Protection System,’ ‘Pedestrian Monitoring System,’ and ‘Front Assist with Emergency Braking System’ are applied.

The ‘IQ. Light – LED Matrix Headlamps & LED Daytime Running Lights,’ which is Volkswagen’s interactive lighting system, and the ‘Dynamic Cornering Lights’ that illuminate according to the vehicle’s direction in cornering situations are also standard across all trims. Furthermore, the Prestige trim features ‘Dynamic Light Assist,’ which optimizes lighting activation according to various driving conditions, along with striking design effects and high visibility courtesy of the ‘Front and Rear Dynamic Turn Signals.’

The 2023 Tiguan Allspace is portrayed as a strategic model for ‘accessible premium’, equipped with many convenience features and digital functionalities preferred by Korean customers.

Firstly, ‘front seat ventilation and heating seats’ are applied to all trims, and the Prestige trim includes rear seat heating. Additionally, it features a steering wheel that includes heating and paddle shifts, ‘3-Zone Climatronic Automatic Air Conditioning’ allowing for independent temperature settings for the driver’s, front passenger’s, and rear seats, and the ‘Trunk Easy Open and Close’ that enables effortless tailgate operation with just a foot motion.

Moreover, it includes ‘Park Pilot and Park Assist’ for safe and convenient parking, the ‘Area View’ providing a 360-degree view around the vehicle, and ‘Ambient Light’ with 30 colors to enhance the night driving experience, all standard across all trims. A ‘Panoramic Sunroof’ that allows for an open, spacious feeling inside and a ‘Head-Up Display’ to assist in convenient driving are available for both Prestige trims.

The digital convenience features include a customizable high-resolution digital instrument cluster, the ‘10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro’ to display desired information such as driving info and fuel status, and the ‘MIB3 Infotainment System’ supporting wireless app connect, mobile phone wireless charging, and voice recognition, included in all trims. The Prestige trim also offers the ‘Discover Pro’ supporting Korean navigation system and a ‘9.2-inch multi-color touchscreen display’, while the 2.0 TDI Premium trim includes an ‘8-inch multi-color touchscreen display.’

The pricing for the 2023 Tiguan Allspace is 48,040,000 won for the 2.0 TDI Premium and 50,986,000 won for both the 2.0 TDI Prestige and 2.0 TSI Prestige models (based on the reduced excise tax of 3.5%, inclusive of VAT).

In addition, a ‘5-Year/150,000 km warranty extension program’ and a ‘Total Care Service for Accident Repairs’ (supporting the deductible up to 500,000 won per accident for up to 5 accidents, during the first year with no distance limitation) are offered to ease the cost of vehicle maintenance.
