Explore the Future: KG Mobility Design Competition Launched by SsangYong

SsangYong Motors is conducting the ‘KG Mobility Design Competition’ to present a vision of future mobility for the year 2030 as part of its new start under the name ‘KG Mobility’.

The theme of the design competition is ‘Vision Adventure Mobility 2030’, which aims to design a future vision for 2030 that inherits and develops the unique heritage of the traditional SUV brand under the new name ‘KG Mobility’ in collaboration with the KG Group. Anyone studying at domestic universities or graduate schools may participate, either individually or as a team of up to four members.

Additionally, aimed at showcasing an infinite world of adventure mobility under the new name ‘KG Mobility’, the competition will be held in two stages: a preliminary round and a final round. Participants must submit designs for overall mobility ideas, including vehicle exteriors, interiors, and UX/UI.

Preliminary round applications will be accepted from April 10 to April 16 via the competition website. Participants must submit presentation boards (JPEG/PNG, A1 Size, 150dpi, up to 2), a project proposal for the final deliverable, an application form, and a proof of enrollment certificate. Evaluation will take place from April 17 to April 19 through online voting (30%) and judging by an evaluation committee (70%) to determine who advances to the final round.

Finalists must produce and submit at least one of the following based on their project proposal: a physical model, a 3D VR image, or a video, between June 12 and June 16. For fair judging, the evaluation will be conducted jointly with external design experts, and results will be announced via the competition website on June 23, with an award ceremony held on June 26 at the Harmony Hall in KG Tower, Seodaemun, and winners will be exhibited until July 2.

A total of 18 entries will be selected from the submitted works, with a total prize of 30 million KRW. The first prize, KG Mobility Award, will be given to one individual with 10 million KRW; the Design Center Award to one individual with 5 million KRW; the NEW Identity Award to two individuals, each with 3 million KRW; the NEW Style Award to four individuals, each with 1 million KRW; and 10 Challenge Awards of 500,000 KRW each.

Director of the Design Center at SsangYong Motors, Lee Kang, stated, “I hope this design competition serves as a platform for aspiring designers to fully demonstrate their talents in leading the future mobility industry.” He also mentioned, “Innovative ideas among the submissions will be actively reflected in establishing the design vision for the next 30 years of KG Mobility.”
