Volvo Unveils Its First All-Electric Heavy Truck for Europe

Volvo’s large electric truck finally makes its debut in the EV trend. As the first electrified model for large trucks in the country, it is expected to cause quite a stir in the large truck market.

Volvo Trucks Korea announced that its large electric truck model will be unveiled at the EV Trend Korea event, taking place on March 15. EV Trend Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Environment since 2018, is an eco-friendly automotive expo, now in its sixth edition this year.

The Volvo electric truck models, including FH, FM, and FMX, feature a 12-speed automatic transmission and can achieve a maximum range of 300 km when the battery is charged to 80%. With a battery capacity of 540 kWh, customers can equip up to six battery packs depending on their needs. The electric truck’s performance boasts a maximum output of 670 horsepower and peak torque of 244.89 kg.m, surpassing the existing diesel truck’s maximum output of 550 horsepower by 120 horsepower.

When using fast charging, 80% of the battery can be charged in just 1 hour and 30 minutes. Currently, the Volvo large electric truck lineup is undergoing certification, and detailed specifications are expected to be disclosed in accordance with the timing of the EV Trend event.

The representatives of Volvo Trucks Korea emphasized, “Although the launch schedule has been delayed due to global economic issues like raw material supply, we will do our best to release the trucks within this year for those who have made reservations.”
