Porsche Breaks Sales Records in 2022 Despite Challenges

Porsche set a new sales record in 2022 by delivering 309,884 vehicles, a 3% increase compared to the previous year.

Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, stated, “We faced a significantly challenging year due to the war in Ukraine, supply chain disruptions, and the ongoing semiconductor crisis. However, I am very proud of the Porsche team, who successfully made the dreams of customers who want to own a Porsche come true in such difficult circumstances.”

Regionally, the European market saw remarkable growth with a 7% increase, delivering 62,685 vehicles. In Germany, sales rose by 3% to 29,512 units. The North American market maintained its status with 79,260 vehicles delivered.

This performance is exceptional, considering the logistics and supply issues that began last year. In the largest single market, China, the impact of city lockdowns and logistics disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a 2% year-over-year decrease, with 93,286 units sold. Other markets saw a positive trend, delivering 45,141 vehicles, an increase of 13%.

By product, SUV models led the demand. The best-selling model was the Cayenne, with 95,604 units sold, followed by the Macan with 86,724 units delivered. The Porsche 911 continued to be popular with a 5% increase in sales, amounting to 40,410 units, while the Panamera saw a 13% rise with 34,142 units delivered.

Despite supply chain bottlenecks and challenges in component procurement, the Porsche Taycan saw a decrease of 16%, delivering 34,801 units, yet customer order demand remains high. The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman sold 18,203 units.

Von Platen emphasized, “Porsche has recorded positive results over the past year and will further solidify its position as a unique sports car brand based on this success.”
