Bentley Breaks Sales Records: A Remarkable Year in the Luxury Automotive Market

Bentley Motors set a new sales record in 2022 by selling a total of 15,174 cars worldwide, representing a 4% increase over the previous year. In the Korean market, 775 units were sold during this period, making it the number one market in the Asia-Pacific region and achieving the highest sales record in Korea for the second consecutive year.

Last year, Bentley Motors diversified its lineup through enhanced bespoke services from Mulliner, allowing it to reach sales of over 15,000 units for the first time in its history.

The Bentayga, the first luxury SUV, has established itself as the best-selling model in Bentley’s lineup, leading the global rise in the luxury SUV segment. In its sixth year since its global market debut, the Bentayga accounted for 42% of Bentley’s total sales last year, solidifying its status as the world’s most successful luxury SUV.

Similarly, the Continental GT lineup, a cornerstone model for Bentley, contributed significantly to this achievement, making up nearly 30% of total sales due to sustained customer demand.

The Flying Spur, which has set the standard for luxury sedans, accounted for 28% of total sales, achieving a balanced distribution across the various models in the lineup.

The growth in the Asia-Pacific market, which includes South Korea, was remarkable. Last year, Bentley sold a total of 2,031 vehicles in the region, marking a 23% increase (+380 units) compared to the previous year, driving global performance. The Korean market emerged as a key driver in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. In the past year, Bentley sold a total of 775 units in Korea (according to KAIDA statistics: 380 Flying Spurs, 208 Bentaygas, and 187 Continental GTs), achieving the highest performance in the Asia-Pacific region and securing its second consecutive record sales year following 2021 (506 units).

Additionally, last year saw the launch of the ‘Bentley Tower,’ the world’s largest integrated business tower for Bentley, alongside the ‘Bentley Experience Lounge’ exclusively for Bentley owners and the lifestyle program ‘Bentley Seoul Membership,’ positioning Bentley as a modern luxury lifestyle brand.

Nico Kuhlmann, head of Bentley Motors Asia-Pacific, stated, “We faced an unprecedented year filled with unforeseen global issues and high uncertainty. However, Bentley has shown remarkable growth in the Asia-Pacific market. We have also initiated a formal procedure for carbon neutrality for all retailers in the Asia-Pacific region by 2025. We are transforming into a modern luxury lifestyle brand and will introduce new derivative models across the Asia-Pacific market this year, strengthening our business further with models like ‘Azure’ and ‘S.'”

Christian Schullik, managing director of Bentley Motors Korea, added, “Bentley sold 775 units in the Korean market last year (according to KAIDA statistics: 380 Flying Spurs, 208 Bentaygas, and 187 Continental GTs), making a remarkable contribution to the overall growth of the Asia-Pacific market. Together with our official dealer partner, Bentley Seoul, we have focused on not only quantitative growth but also qualitative growth. With the launch of ‘Bentley Tower’ in June last year, we perfectly transitioned into a lifestyle brand within the Korean luxury market. Additionally, as part of our efforts to share a unique brand customer experience, we launched the ‘Bentley Seoul Membership’ in February last year, providing an unparalleled luxury lifestyle experience exclusive to Bentley customers.”
