The Toyota Group has appointed Koji Sato, the President of Lexus International, as the new President of Toyota Motor Corporation during its 119th regular General Meeting. The new President’s term begins on April 1. Akio Toyoda will be promoted to Chairman.
Koji Sato, the newly appointed President of Toyota, was born in 1969 and is currently 54 years old. He joined Toyota in 1992.
Sato was appointed as the Chief Engineer of Lexus in January 2016, then became the General Manager of Lexus in April 2017, the Vice President of Lexus in January 2019, and the President of Lexus in January 2020. In January 2021, he was further promoted to Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all operations related to the Lexus brand.
