TMAP Payment to Revolutionize Electric Vehicle Charging Experience in Korea

Starting next month, users will be able to access Shinsegae I&C’s electric vehicle charging brand, ‘Sparos EV,’ through TMAP payments.

TMAP Mobility and Shinsegae I&C signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Electric Vehicle Charging Business’ on the 30th.

This MOU was established due to the mutual interests of both parties in responding to the rapidly growing domestic electric vehicle charging market. TMAP Mobility gains access to Shinsegae I&C’s EV charging technology and infrastructure, while Shinsegae I&C secures a vast user base and data competitiveness from TMAP.

Drivers will be able to check the detailed location and usage status of chargers in real time via TMAP, along with features like route guidance to charging stations and easy payment options. Shinsegae I&C will also be able to operate a location analysis system that considers the life styles of electric vehicle drivers, based on TMAP’s big data which includes destination search numbers, the number of vehicles providing route guidance, and traffic conditions.

The two companies plan to actively cooperate beyond improving driver convenience and differentiating services to engage in various joint marketing initiatives for electric vehicle users in the future, as well as campaigns aimed at promoting a correct charging culture.

TMAP Mobility is actively collaborating with public institutions and private companies in the electric vehicle charging market to enhance consumer convenience. They provide smart electric vehicle charging services as an essential mobility platform for electric vehicle users through technical partnerships with various partners, including the Ministry of Environment, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Everon, Chargebee, Startco, and others.

Furthermore, they are continuously enhancing the TMAP infotainment system ‘TMAP AUTO,’ which has been showcased in collaboration with various automakers, to provide differentiated electric vehicle charging services.

Lee Jong-ho, CEO of TMAP Mobility, stated, “The synergy of Shinsegae I&C’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure and TMAP’s AI and big data competitiveness has greatly enhanced convenience for electric vehicle users. Furthermore, we aim to develop into a differentiated platform for electric vehicle users based on TMAP AUTO, which is embedded in various finished car brands.”

Hyung Tae-jun, CEO of Shinsegae I&C, remarked, “Combining Shinsegae I&C’s differentiated charging technology and infrastructure with TMAP Mobility’s powerful data capabilities will allow us to introduce new services that can lead the industry. We will continue to focus on providing an innovative and differentiated charging experience for customers across all areas of the Sparos EV technology, platform, and infrastructure.”
