Meet the New 2023 Honda CT125: The Perfect Companion for Fun and Adventure

Honda Korea officially launches the compact fun-riding motorcycle ‘CT125’ in the domestic market.

The CT125 was developed based on the concept of ‘Trekking Explorer Cub’, which means enjoying nature comfortably by anyone. It combines the trekking performance with the unique characteristics of Honda Korea’s best-selling Super Cub series.

Since its debut in 1961 in the North American market as the ‘CA100T Trail50’, it has evolved into a hobby motorcycle capable of off-road riding, earning steady popularity as an entry-level trekking bike. In 2019, the ‘CT125 Hunter Cub’ concept model was showcased at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show, attracting global rider attention.

The newly launched 2023 model CT125 is built upon the legacy of the Super Cub series, adopting specifications suitable for a wider range of riding environments based on an easy-to-handle body. Its longer wheelbase and higher seat height compared to the existing Super Cub C125 allow for better views of nature while trekking and touring suburban areas. Moreover, a ground clearance of 170 mm has been set to facilitate handling on uneven surfaces.

In addition, taking into account outdoor riding scenarios, features such as a high-mount intake duct to reduce dust intake, an under guard to protect the engine, and a large rear carrier enhance the trekking performance. The frame has been reinforced, and the pivot plate increases stability, optimizing the rigidity of the body.

Furthermore, the CT125 maximizes the joy of trekking by utilizing top bridges and telescopic front forks commonly found in larger motorcycles, equipped with semi-block pattern tires for confidence on various terrains. It also offers precise body control by securing a 45-degree steering angle on both left and right sides, applying single-disc brakes of 220 mm at the front and 190 mm at the rear, and standardizing a single-channel ABS for reassuring stopping power.

The CT125 is designed to enable riders to enjoy a wide range of experiences from typical city riding to off-road adventures. It boasts a 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum output of 9.1 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and peak torque of 1.1 kg.m at 4,750 rpm, showcasing outstanding performance characteristics, especially in the mid-to-low speed ranges.

The repositioning of the air cleaner and intake/exhaust systems has achieved a lively engine feeling, and the easy-to-operate automatic centrifugal clutch allows everyone, regardless of age or gender, to enjoy the ride without hesitation.

The CT125 reflects a tough & modern style by incorporating the unique appearance of the early 1961 model, further accentuated with contemporary lifestyle elements. Notably, it retains the upward muffler, a hallmark feature of the CT series, and adds protectors to the exhaust pipe and muffler, creating an even more formidable presence.

LED technology has been employed throughout the lighting system, ensuring modern aesthetics and safety through visibility, while the CT125’s distinctive round headlight and large square winkers complete its unique appearance. Additionally, the compact size digital LCD-type meter harmonizes with the handlebars, creating an even more lively feel.

Easy Hong, CEO of Honda Korea, stated, “Thanks to the support for Honda’s existing smart commuter represented by the Super Cub, we are launching the CT125 to enjoy ‘fun riding’ in outdoor life such as the recent trend of motor camping. We hope that more customers can embrace the free lifestyle that motorcycles bring with the CT125.”

The newly launched 2023 model CT125 will be available in two colors: red and green, with a price of 4,890,000 won.
