Volkswagen Group Korea Donates Cars to Foster Future Automotive Talent

Volkswagen Group Korea has donated five vehicles for educational and research purposes to four universities that are part of the Future Automotive Consortium, an academic collaboration aimed at developing specialized software talent in the automotive field.

The vehicle donation ceremony held on the 29th at Kookmin University was attended by Thiel Scheer, Group CEO of Volkswagen Group Korea, along with President Im Hong-Jae of Kookmin University, and relevant university faculty members.

The donated vehicles, which include the Audi A7 55 TDI Quattro and A7 50 TDI Quattro, will be utilized as educational and research vehicles by Kookmin University, Keimyung University, Ajou University, and Chungbuk National University. The Future Automotive Consortium, currently comprising seven universities, aims to nurture innovative talent that will lead the future mobility era.

Thiel Scheer, Group CEO of Volkswagen Group Korea, expressed, “We are pleased to contribute to research and education related to autonomous driving and vehicle structure through our vehicle donation. We will continue to engage in activities that support the training of future talents in the automotive field.”

Shin Sung-Hwan, Project Director at Kookmin University, stated, “We thank Volkswagen Group Korea for their ongoing support of the Future Automotive Consortium to cultivate outstanding talent in future mobility. We will work on developing educational programs using the donated vehicles to enhance students’ expertise and practical skills.”

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Group Korea is implementing various educational initiatives aimed at nurturing future talent. Notable programs include the SEA:ME (Software Engineering of Automotive and Mobility Ecosystem) exchange student program for developing specialized software skills in the automotive field, sponsorship of a global robotics competition to strengthen coding skills, and the dual education program ‘Ausbildung’ following the German model.
