Hankook Tire Teams Up with Daeyoung Charge to Enhance EV Charging Infrastructure

On December 1st, Hankook Tire signed a memorandum of understanding with Daeyoung Charge, a company specializing in electric vehicle charging services, to expand their strategic partnership for the installation of EV charging facilities.

The signing ceremony took place at the Chaebi Gangnam-Seocho Center in Seoul, attended by Lee Sang-keun, Executive Director of Hankook Tire’s Retail Sales Division, and Jeong Min-kyu, CEO of Daeyoung Charge. The two companies have agreed to actively cooperate in building the necessary infrastructure to enhance EV charging accessibility in line with the rapid electrification trend in the automotive market.

Through this agreement, Hankook Tire plans to introduce Daeyoung’s latest electric vehicle charging facilities at its tire-focused total service outlet, ‘T-Station’, to provide charging service convenience to visiting customers. Additionally, the two companies will conduct joint promotional campaigns related to charging services to enhance customer convenience and actively expand collaboration in the EV sector.

Daeyoung Charge currently operates over 4,000 charging stations nationwide, including its self-developed high-speed charger rated at 400kW, making it a leading provider of electric vehicle charging services in South Korea. Leveraging its exceptional technological capabilities, Daeyoung Charge is also expanding into overseas markets, including North America and Europe. Recently, they launched a subscription-based fee system called ‘Chaebi Pass’ tailored to diverse charging environments, driving innovation in domestic EV charging services.

As part of its domestic launch promotion for its dedicated EV tire brand ‘Ion’, Hankook Tire also held an event offering EV charging credits to customers who purchase their products in collaboration with Daeyoung Charge.

The T-Station service centers, which will provide the EV charging infrastructure, offer standardized vehicle management services with specialized personnel and advanced equipment across over 460 offline stores nationwide, as well as an online shopping platform ‘tstation.com’ for easy and convenient tire shopping, delivering a differentiated O2O (Online to Offline) service experience.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire continues to lead the electric vehicle tire market as a supplier of original equipment tires for electric vehicle models of global automotive brands. Since September of this year, they have begun activities as the single-make supplier and technical partner for the world’s premier electric vehicle racing series, the ‘ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’. The extensive data acquired from these racing events will also be utilized in developing conventional electric vehicle tires.
