Celebrating Excellence: The Inaugural ‘Driver of the Year’ Awards by Wooty

On the 5th, Wooty announced the selection of ‘Driver of the Year’ and held an awards ceremony. The event was attended by Wooty CEO Tom White, drivers, industry representatives, and business partners.

Since March, Wooty has been reviewing operational indicators comprehensively each month to award the ‘Driver of the Month’. The inaugural ‘Driver of the Year’ ceremony is aimed at expressing gratitude to the drivers who contributed to Wooty’s growth over the past year, and solidifying the commitment to collaborate on future journeys.

The selection criteria for Wooty’s ‘Driver of the Year’ includes three categories: △ number of rides, △ revenue, and △ passenger ratings. Awards were presented to 15 top drivers divided into categories of Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Achievement Award. Among these, one driver from each category was selected for the Grand Prize, awarded to the top three drivers with the highest number of rides, highest revenue, and highest ratings over one year.

The winner of the revenue category was previously selected as the ‘Driver of the Month’ in August and has been sharing personal revenue-boosting strategies with fellow drivers to improve overall earnings. Special and contribution awards were also presented to drivers and individuals who significantly contributed to Wooty’s growth.

To reward the efforts and achievements of the awardees, Wooty presented certificates, bouquets, gold badges, and department store gift vouchers worth up to 1 million KRW. The ‘Driver of the Year’ winner will receive a certificate to attach to their vehicle and will be displayed in the Wooty app profile as ‘Driver of the Year’ for passengers to see.

During this ceremony, Wooty also awarded special prizes to drivers who hold new operational records, breaking away from traditional evaluation criteria. This highlights the passionate efforts of drivers who achieved these records, and aims to expand the celebration for more drivers to enjoy. Awardees included father-son driver duos, drivers providing the most passenger services at airports, and those achieving new revenue records in the second half of the year.

Additionally, drivers with the longest tenure since the days of Uber Taxi, which preceded Wooty, and those providing warm, connecting transport services like ‘Quiet M’ were also recognized. Two drivers recorded the longest driving times, completing runs from Seoul (Seocho) to Haenam and from Seoul (Hongdae) to Gwangju.

Tom White, CEO of Wooty, stated, “The continuous growth of Wooty over the past year is due to our partners and the hard-working drivers in the field. This event was organized to express gratitude to those who have done their best,” adding, “Wooty has been improving services by incorporating valuable feedback from drivers, enhancing app usability, and expanding support to boost earnings. We will continue to support drivers to create differentiated services that will lay the groundwork for growth in the mobility industry.”

Meanwhile, Wooty is expanding pre-training for drivers to facilitate smooth app usage and has created various communication channels, including in-person support centers, phone support, and the first online remote support in the mobility industry, to provide prompt assistance. Also, the incentive promotion for drivers, initiated in July (4,000 KRW for franchise, 1,000 KRW for mediation), has been extended until the end of the year and will operate for 24 hours starting in November to contribute to increasing drivers’ income and encourage more rides. Additionally, the app interface has been simplified based on driver feedback.
