Volkswagen Tiguan Surpasses 60,000 Units Sold in South Korea!

The Volkswagen Tiguan, Germany’s representative family SUV, has crossed the milestone of 60,000 cumulative sales in South Korea as of November 2022.

As of November, a total of 3,230 units of the Tiguan have been sold this year, achieving a cumulative sales figure of 60,071 since its debut in South Korea in July 2008 (KAIDA standards, excluding Allspace variant). Among imported SUVs, the Tiguan is the only model to surpass the 60,000-unit mark.

The Tiguan has claimed the top spot in the KAIDA monthly bestseller rankings 22 times since its launch, and in 2020 it proved its overwhelming popularity as the leading imported SUV, surpassing annual sales of 10,000 units.

The Tiguan’s unwavering popularity stems from its high value for money and outstanding fuel efficiency, built on Volkswagen’s solid foundation. Furthermore, its reasonable price in the 40 million won range has attracted the interest of the 30 to 40 age group considering both domestic and imported SUVs.

The second-generation Tiguan, featuring the next-generation EA288 evo engine, not only delivers exceptional performance but also ensures excellent fuel efficiency, resulting in high satisfaction among owners. It is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as the cutting-edge ‘IQ.Drive – Travel Assist’ and intelligent interactive lighting system ‘IQ.Light – LED Matrix Headlamps,’ meeting the preferences of domestic customers.

A total cost reduction program that lowers the burden of vehicle maintenance costs is also considered a major factor in the Tiguan’s popularity. Customers benefit from a ‘5-Year/150,000 km Warranty Extension Program’ and ‘Accident Repair Total Care Service’ that covers the deductible for up to five occurrences when insurance repairs are done at an official service center (limited to 500,000 won per incident, no mileage restriction for the first year), reducing the economic burden of vehicle maintenance.

Additionally, addressing various needs from domestic customers by diversifying body types, powertrains, and drivetrains has further increased the Tiguan’s appeal. The Tiguan lineup has expanded to include both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, and in August, a new seven-seater Tiguan Allspace equipped with a gasoline engine was introduced, strengthening the Tiguan lineup. As of November of this year, the cumulative sales of the entire Tiguan lineup, consisting of the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace, have reached 66,177 units.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Financial Services is conducting a year-end financial promotion for the Tiguan until December, offering various benefits. This includes a ‘Zero-Interest Installment Financing’ promotion allowing Tiguan 2.0 TDI Premium buyers to operate the model for 36 months without interest, along with a ‘Residual Value Guaranteed Installment Financing’ promotion offering up to 49% residual value guarantee at a low rate of 3.2%.
