Polestar 2 Achieves 5-Star Safety Rating: Unmatched Security on the Road

The Polestar 2 has again proven its outstanding safety by achieving the highest 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Polestar 2 recorded a perfect 5-star rating across all test criteria in NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program, including front crash protection, side crash protection, and rollover resistance tests. This score is the highest achievable under the U.S. new car assessment program, with the Polestar 2 being rated one of the safest cars currently available for sale.

Gregor Hembrough, head of Polestar in North America, expressed his delight: “We are very pleased to announce the high safety rating of the Polestar 2. Our customers can take pride and comfort knowing that the Polestar 2 combines top-notch safety ratings with cutting-edge technology, exceptional design, and sustainable materials.”

The Polestar 2 is equipped with groundbreaking safety devices that Volvo Cars has pioneered over the past 95 years. It includes state-of-the-art safety technologies to prevent accidents and mitigate damage, as well as an inner side airbag for front seats to protect passengers from collisions during external impacts, and safety devices such as the SPOC (Severe Partial Offset Collision) Block and FLLP (Front Lower Load Path) to protect both the battery pack and passengers.

The SPOC (Severe Partial Offset Collision) Block is a core element that protects the battery pack during vehicle collisions. This safety technology ensures that components dislodged during an impact do not move inward toward the battery pack and passengers but push outward, thereby safeguarding both the battery and occupants. The FLLP (Front Lower Load Path) design prevents the influx of external objects into the cabin during front collisions, protecting both passengers and the battery pack.
