Exciting New Concepts Unveiled by Mopar at SEMA 2022: Jeep Innovations and RAM Power!

Mopar has unveiled three tuning concept cars for Jeep and RAM to be showcased at SEMA 2022 (Specialty Equipment Market Association 2022).

The Jeep Wrangler tuning vehicle, named ‘CJ Surge,’ is equipped with an efficient battery power system designed for classic models. This provides an electric powertrain option for enthusiasts looking to convert Jeep classics, modern models, and trucks into battery electric vehicles. It features a 400V, 200kW electric power module, with 24 lithium-ion battery modules supplying power to each of the four wheels. The torque is transmitted through a two-speed Jeep transfer case.

The vehicle showcases a classic Jeep design with a bold orange color, highlighting Jeep’s distinctive identity. Along the body sides are surf blue surge graphics and stripes adding a stylish touch. It also features an ‘EV’ badge near the large wheel arches, signaling its electric nature, along with Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille.

Moreover, it includes the JPP Wrangler JK Rubicon bumper kit, positioned centrally with a winch, and has surf blue tow hooks and yellow fog lights on either side. The charging port is located on the driver’s side, and the lithium-ion battery pack, a core element of the electrification, is exposed behind the driver and passenger seats, effectively showcasing both the classic Jeep look and modern electrification.

The second concept vehicle is the ‘RAM 1500 TRX Gold Shot’ pickup truck, designed as a high-performance transport vehicle specifically for motocross enthusiasts. Built on the 702-horsepower RAM 1500 TRX platform, it is established as the world’s fastest and most powerful pickup truck, enabling swift arrival at off-road trails within specified timeframes. Mopar’s bed step facilitates easier access for motorcycles into the truck bed. The custom metal skid plate raises the approach angle to 32.5 degrees, allowing it to easily navigate various obstacles.

Lastly, the ‘RAM 1500 Backcountry X’ concept vehicle features a customized RAM Pack and RAM Rack functionality, significantly increasing storage space without compromising the pickup bed’s functionality. The RAM Pack storage opens with a hatch-type panel made from carbon fiber. Through the RAM Pack system, cargo space has been expanded by over 68%, enhanced by custom shelving and a secure roof. The RAM Rack uses additional Tule cross rails above the bed to accommodate gear and accessories.

Additionally, the Jeep Gladiator D-Coder concept, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe concept, Jeep 41 concept, Jeep Wrangler 4xe Birdcage concept, Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 concept, and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary concept model will also be showcased at the SEMA show.

Mark Bosanac, Mopar’s North American Vice President of Parts and Service, stated, “With Mopar’s conversion kits, it’s easy to electrify Jeep vehicles with internal combustion engines, enabling a transition to more sustainable electric vehicles. The unveiling of the CJ Surge concept vehicle is a significant step in Jeep’s journey to becoming the world’s leading electrified SUV brand with a goal of zero carbon emissions.”

Meanwhile, Mopar will set up an exhibition booth at the SEMA show, taking place from November 1st to 4th at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where various concept vehicles from Jeep and RAM along with tuning equipment and accessories will be showcased. The SEMA show is a renowned automotive aftermarket trade show held annually in Las Vegas since 1963.
