Jeep Camp 2022: A Thrilling Off-Road Adventure Experience

Jeep concluded the grand event of its authentic off-road driving festival, ‘Jeep Camp 2022’, which took place for ten days from October 24. This event was supported by Gangwon Tourism Foundation, a leader in ESG tourism.

Celebrating its 16th year, ‘Jeep Camp 2022’ was held in the Songjeong Beach area of Yangyang County, Gangwon-do, continuing from last year. This year’s Jeep Camp saw a surge in interest, having closed its registration page just 10 minutes after opening due to high demand, showcasing a remarkable 10:1 competition rate. A total of 200 teams and 650 customers who successfully registered enjoyed camping under the clear autumn sky of Yangyang, experiencing an off-road driving program that highlighted Jeep’s unparalleled 4X4 performance and craftsmanship over a 3-day, 2-night stay.

Jeep provided a variety of off-road courses to help participants fully utilize their seldom-used 4X4 capabilities. Kicking off with beach driving through vast sandy expanses, the ‘Jeep Wave Park’, a challenging obstacle course spread over 19,834 square meters (approximately 6,000 pyeong) created around Songjeong Beach, offered thrilling off-road trails that would be difficult to experience outside of Jeep Camp.

Customers navigated through a total of 14 obstacles, including swamps, logs, and rocks, in their own Jeep vehicles, demonstrating exceptional traction, drivability, and maneuverability. Following this, participants experienced the unrivaled off-road performance of Jeep as they tackled the rugged mountain trails over a 28km route for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

In addition to driving, Jeep also offered various entertainment activities. To allow participants to fully enjoy the deepening autumn in Yangyang with family or partners, a camping zone was prepared, and for the first time at the Jeep Camp, an ‘Agility Zone’ was created to spend time with pets, providing opportunities for memorable experiences.

Moreover, at the main square, a photo printing service was available for participants to print theirictures taken during the Jeep Camp for social media uploads, along with programs allowing attendees to create various souvenirs such as pin buttons with the Jeep logo and camping straps.

Jeep also focused on community engagement and nature conservation, collaborating with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation on ESG initiatives. They organized a ‘Farmers Market’ to promote local agricultural products, contributing to the regional economy. To support the swift recovery of areas heavily affected by the spring wildfires, they initiated a ‘Save the Forest Campaign’, donating wildflower seeds to Yangyang County, and engaged participants in a ‘Beach Plogging’ program to prevent pollution at Songjeong Beach and the Jeep camping zone, fostering community service.

Jake Aumann, President of Stellantis Korea, expressed gratitude saying, “I would like to thank our customers for waiting for, enjoying, and safely wrapping up the Jeep Camp. In the future, we will regularly provide opportunities to experience the exceptional off-road capabilities of Jeep vehicles, allowing more people to fully appreciate Jeep’s craftsmanship and spirit.”
