The high-performance brand of Mercedes-Benz Korea, Mercedes-AMG, has launched its first high-performance electric vehicle, the “All-New Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+”.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ incorporates the advanced luxury design, innovative digital elements, and top-level safety and convenience features of the all-new EQS, while adding Mercedes-AMG’s powerful driving performance and unique emotional appeal, making it a luxurious high-performance model.
Johannes Shun, Vice President of Product, Marketing, and Digital Business at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is a vehicle that combines AMG’s performance luxury with innovative electric driveability.” He added, “As Mercedes-AMG’s first electric vehicle, we expect it to broaden the choice of our electric vehicle lineup and provide a differentiated experience exclusive to high-performance electric cars. “
The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ reflects the design language of the “All-New EQS” with its aerodynamic one-bow design, recording a coefficient of drag of 0.20cd, and features many distinct elements unique to AMG both inside and out.
The vehicle’s front, equipped with digital light headlamps as standard, is enhanced by an AMG exclusive black panel grille that adds luxury to its appearance, with AMG lettering included on the grille’s sides to emphasize its identity within the AMG family. The AMG multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, measuring 22 inches, are optimized for aerodynamic design, contrasting matte black spokes with a high-gloss rim edge, providing both dynamism and a luxurious appearance; the red brake calipers emphasize AMG’s unique presence.
The interior also infuses AMG’s spirit. The AMG Napa leather seats evoke luxury and a sporty ambiance, and the center console features AMG carbon fiber trim that boasts a sophisticated interior. The use of Napa leather in the AMG performance steering wheel, along with AMG lettering on the floor mats and door sills, elevates the interior’s quality.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with the “MBUX Hyperscreen,” a unified wide-screen instrument panel featuring an AI system capable of learning.
Furthermore, the MBUX Interior Assistant helps users control the vehicle in a more intuitive and intelligent manner. Utilizing motion sensors in the overhead controls and a driver camera in the instrument panel, alongside learning algorithms, it recognizes the actions and gaze of the driver and front passenger. This feature allows for simple gestures to control reading lights and sunroofs, as well as to access favorite menus or activate departure warning assistance.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with a 107.8kWh battery, allowing for a maximum driving range of 404 km on a single charge under domestic certification standards. The battery installed in the EQS 53 4MATIC+ is configured to utilize wiring and battery management systems that best leverage AMG characteristics.
The AMG-exclusive electric motor equipped in the EQS 53 4MATIC+ achieves an optimal balance of strong power, efficiency, and comfort, featuring the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system that adapts torque distribution between the front and rear axles according to driving conditions, responding even faster than mechanical all-wheel drive systems. The EQS 53 4MATIC+, true to its AMG heritage, delivers impressive performance with a maximum output of 484 kW and a peak torque of 950 Nm, achieving acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
The EQS 53 4MATIC+ is also standard-equipped with rear axle steering capable of a maximum steering angle of 9 degrees, significantly reducing its turning radius to a compact car level of just 11.5 meters, providing agile and stable steering despite being a large sedan.
Additionally, the standard AirMatic air suspension automatically adjusts according to driving conditions, speed, and load, ensuring a comfortable ride on any surface and road scenario. The adaptive damping system controls each wheel individually, adjusting the air suspension based on a sophisticated sensor in the level control system according to driving speed.
AMG Dynamic Select offers five driving modes: “Slippery,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” and “Individual,” allowing drivers to tailor engine, transmission, and handling settings to match their preferences and driving conditions, effectively supporting both comfortable and sporty driving experiences. Additionally, the cooling system is automatically activated according to each driving mode to assist efficient driving. For instance, in “Sport” and “Sport+” modes, the cooling system operates faster and the cooling capacity increases to maintain power for longer.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with cutting-edge driving assistance systems and a variety of convenience features to create a safer and more comfortable driving environment.
The state-of-the-art driving assistance system packaged in the EQS 53 4MATIC+ includes the Driving Assistance Package Plus, featuring Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC to maintain distance from the vehicle ahead while automating speed control, braking, and starting; Active Lane Keeping Assist that controls steering to reel the vehicle back when it departs from its lane, along with a vibrating steering wheel for warnings; Active Parking Assist; PRE-SAFE that detects hazardous situations before an accident to minimize passenger harm; and PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side that protects front-seat passengers in the event of a side collision.
To provide passengers with a high-level audio experience, a Burmester® surround sound system with a total of 15 speakers and an output of 710 W is equipped. As an AMG vehicle, it also offers a unique auditory experience. The EQS 53 4MATIC+ features special speakers, bass actuators, and a sound generator that provide “Authentic” sounds, capable of adjusting tone and intensity based on driving status and driving mode through the “AMG Sound Experience.”
Additionally, an air purification package with a large HEPA filter is included as standard, effectively filtering external pollutants like fine dust and pollen, while neutralizing internal odors with active carbon coatings to maintain a pleasant interior environment.
Also equipped are the MBUX augmented reality navigation system and MBUX augmented reality head-up display, which facilitate intuitive road information comprehension; Active Ambient Lighting that creates a tailored interior atmosphere based on the driver’s mood and preferences; as well as Multi-Contour seats providing six massage programs utilizing eight air chambers and vibrating motors, ensuring a safe and comfortable driving experience.
The price of the all-new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, including VAT, is 213 million KRW, and it will be available for purchase starting November 14 through online sales platform “Mercedes-Benz Store” after consultation and experience at one of the 64 official Mercedes showrooms nationwide.
