On the 10th, Na Seung-sik, Director of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, and Serafino Rodolfo, Deputy Secretary of the Philippines Department of Industry, held a meeting at the Korea Automotive Technology Institute’s headquarters in Chungcheongnam-do, Cheonan City, to discuss enhancing the competitiveness of the Philippine electric multipurpose vehicle industry.

The meeting was attended by over 30 key figures, including Na Seung-sik, Director of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute; Serafino Rodolfo, Deputy Secretary of the Philippines Department of Industry; Lim Kwang-hoon, Deputy Director of the Management Strategy Department at the Korea Automotive Technology Institute; Kim Hyun-cheol, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Research Institute; George Dinsai, Commercial Attaché at the Philippine Embassy in South Korea; and governors from six provinces in the Philippines.

This visit by the Philippines Department of Industry was part of the “2nd Korea-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee” held on the 18th of last month, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and aimed to discuss strategies for the electric vehicle and parts manufacturing supply chain.

The Korea Automotive Technology Institute and the Philippines Department of Industry plan to pursue diversified exchanges to discover cooperation methods and enhance competitiveness in the automotive industry. They will collaborate on testing and evaluation of electric multipurpose vehicles (such as shuttle buses, trucks, and two- and three-wheeled vehicles), establish electric vehicle charging infrastructure, support automotive parts R&D technology, and explore international joint research.

Director Na Seung-sik stated, “We hope that our cooperation with the Philippines Department of Industry will contribute to the overall technological advancement of the local electric vehicle and automotive industry,” and emphasized, “Based on the upcoming activation of the Korea-Philippines FTA, we will also strengthen the grounds for wider R&D support and the local expansion of our parts companies.”
