Unveiling the All-New Range Rover Sport: A PHEV Game-Changer

The secret weapon of the Range Rover Sport is its PHEV model. The Range Rover Sport PHEV model, set to launch in the first half of next year, is capable of a WLTP-rated electric-only range of 113 km, making it usable as a daily electric vehicle.

Jaguar Land Rover Korea unveiled the all-new Range Rover Sport model on the 11th at the Auction Center in Gangnam, Seoul. The all-new Range Rover Sport is the high-performance model of the all-new Range Rover launched in August and will start deliveries to domestic customers in December. Since pre-orders began in May, over 1,000 units have been ordered, showing its popularity.

The all-new Range Rover is categorized into three variants: the P360 model with a 360-horsepower inline 6-cylinder engine, the D300 model with a 300-horsepower inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, and the PHEV trim, P510e, with a maximum output of 510 horsepower.

The all-new Range Rover’s PHEV model is its secret weapon. The PHEV model combines Land Rover’s inline 6-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine with a 105 kWh (142 hp) electric motor and a 38.2 kWh battery, boasting a system total output of 510 horsepower and 700 Nm (71.4 kg.m) of peak torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

The greatest attraction of the all-new Range Rover Sport PHEV is its electric driving range. It can travel up to 113 km according to the WLTP standard. This means it can operate without internal combustion engines in daily life, and only switches to internal combustion engines for long-distance driving, thus contributing to carbon reduction.

Interest in PHEV models continues among Range Rover customers. Jeong Il-young, the marketing manager at Land Rover, stated, “Existing gasoline model customers are showing continued interest in the PHEV model of the new Range Rover Sport.” He added, “Since the all-new Range Rover Sport PHEV model can reach a WLTP-rated driving range of 113 km, even under domestic certification, a figure in the 80 km range is very likely, allowing for daily use as an electric vehicle without the need for internal combustion engines.”

Manager Jeong also explained, “In addition to the all-new Range Rover Sport, we will introduce PHEV models in the all-new Range Rover, ushering in an era of PHEV in the luxury SUV market.”
