Rimac Nevera Breaks Speed Records as the Fastest Electric Car in the World

The Croatian high-performance hypercar manufacturer Rimac has recorded the fastest speed in the world among existing electric vehicles with its ‘Nevera’.

The Rimac Nevera achieved a maximum speed of 412 km/h on an oval track in Papenburg, Germany, which features two 4km straightaways, making it the fastest electric car in the world.

The Nevera ensured stability even at high speeds with aerodynamic settings that balance drag and lift in its top speed mode. It was fitted with legal Michelin Cup 2R tires for road use.

The driving was handled by Rimac’s chief test and development driver, Miroslav Zrnčević. He stated, “Driving at 412 km/h means moving at a third of the speed of sound. During my drive at top speed, I could feel how calm and stable this vehicle is. Rimac’s aerodynamic and vehicle dynamics teams have done an incredible job,” he said.

This record is a fulfillment of the promise that the Nevera, developed to deliver next-generation hypercar performance, would create a new paradigm. While the Nevera sold to customers is limited to a top speed of 352 km/h, this drive was conducted under the support and controlled conditions set by the Rimac team, lifting the previous top speed cap.

The four electric motors designed by Rimac deliver 1,914 horsepower, allowing the Nevera to reach 60 mph in just 1.85 seconds and 100 mph in 4.3 seconds. Currently, the Nevera is being produced at Rimac’s headquarters in the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia, and it will be sold in a limited edition of 150 units crafted through a handwork process.
