Volvo’s Revolutionary ‘Save Seat’ for Pets Wins Silver at 2022 New York Product Design Awards

Volvo Car Korea’s ‘Volvo Save Seat’, designed for the safety of pets, won silver in the automotive accessories category at the ‘2022 New York Product Design Awards.’

The ‘New York Product Design Awards’ is an international product design award administered by the International Association of Product Design, which selects products that contribute to better daily life through practical and original design. In this year’s award, more than 800 entries from 24 countries were submitted. The Volvo Save Seat was highly praised for having been designed with careful consideration of the unique characteristics and behaviors of pets, effectively extending the brand’s core value of safety to pets.

The development of the Volvo Save Seat involved brand ambassadors, actor Kim Mu-yeol and Yoon Seung-ah, who are both pet owners, along with veterinarian Sul Chae-hyun, enhancing the product’s completeness. The Volvo Save Seat plays a crucial role in protecting pets that can be severely injured from even minor impacts. The seat can be detached from the car seat’s base, allowing it to also serve as a pet sofa in everyday life, providing a familiar environment for pets during car rides to minimize anxiety. Designed with zippered mesh fabric, the seat allows pets to see their owners at all times, while owners can easily check on their pets’ conditions.

To celebrate this award, Volvo Car Korea will offer limited edition additional sales of the Volvo Save Seat through the official online store, Volvo Lifestyle Shop, starting from November 28. In addition to the Save Seat, a harness set (Volvo Save Tag) will also be available for sale, which allows for engraving essential information such as the pet’s name, emergency contact, and veterinary details to assist in potential rescues. Customers of Volvo cars will be able to purchase it at a 30% discounted price.
