Unveiling the One-Off BMW M4 Competition: A Creative Collaboration with Alcantara

On the 23rd of last month (local time), Alcantara unveiled a one-off BMW M4 Competition in collaboration with BMW. The BMW M4 Competition, featuring Alcantara’s bespoke interior, was displayed at the House of BMW in Milan.

A one-off model refers to a vehicle that is custom-made upon order. This special one-off edition is based on the most successful M series in the history of BMW’s subsidiary, BMW M GmbH. It is built on the M3 and M4, which have become synonymous with high performance in the mid-size premium segment worldwide, equipped with a six-cylinder engine, M TwinPower Turbo technology, and capable of reaching a maximum output of 510 horsepower.

Looking at the interior, the seats, headliner, pillars, and door panels are finished with stitching in contrasting colors against black Alcantara. To commemorate the long-lasting partnership between Alcantara and BMW, the black Alcantara is alternated with the yellow Alcantara color used on the vehicle’s exterior, showcasing Alcantara’s advanced customization capabilities.

Additionally, the headrests are embroidered with logos commemorating the 50th anniversary of M and the BMW 50 Jahre logo, highlighting the excellence of Italian craftsmanship. The shape of the central seat and the weaving style of the door panels are inspired by the 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL, acting as a connection between the past and the future.

One of the standout features of this one-off model is the laser-engraved depiction of the Milan skyline on the side door panels. Milan, known as a city of lifestyle and fashion, is the foundation for both brands and the birthplace of the project.

Massimiliano Di Silvestre, president of BMW Italy, stated, “2022 is a special year commemorating the 50th anniversary of BMW M, renowned for producing high-performance sports cars. I wanted to share the story of our history, starting with the M1 designed by the Italian designer Giorgio Giugiaro. By creating the one-off BMW M4 Competition in collaboration with the Italian company Alcantara, we could celebrate BMW M’s 50th anniversary with outstanding Italian design and cutting-edge sustainability.”

Andrea Boragno, president of Alcantara S.p.A, expressed, “I am delighted to collaborate based on shared values with BMW. Alcantara enhances the M series’ distinct driving sensations, emphasizing sportiness and lightness while providing sporty ride comfort with comfort and durability.”
