SsangYong Motors Embarks on a New Journey with Organizational Restructuring

SsangYong Motors made a significant move on September 28 by appointing new CEOs (Kwak Jae-sun and Jeong Yong-won) and confirming a comprehensive organizational restructuring and executive personnel changes just five days later, marking a decisive new beginning.

This organizational restructuring was implemented with a focus on actively responding to the new management environment changes resulting from M&A, as well as facilitating early management normalization and enhancing corporate value ahead of the conclusion of the rehabilitation process.

As a result, SsangYong Motors expanded from the current system of 7 divisions and 26 departments to a structure of 2 sectors, 8 divisions, and 28 business units. To enhance efficiency and expertise, a new “sector” was established to oversee and integrate divisions, along with a business support headquarters to assist production, sales, and development tasks.

To boost business mindset, domestic and overseas sales headquarters were renamed as “Business Headquarters,” while the existing “department” titles were also changed to “business division,” reflecting a broader emphasis on improving overall corporate performance.

Additionally, to restore fundamental functions that had been diminished due to the corporate rehabilitation process and to lay the groundwork for future growth and development, a new organization was established to integrate and manage the advanced electronic technologies scattered throughout the current organization.

Meanwhile, in line with the successful push for corporate rehabilitation and M&A, SsangYong Motors has implemented internal executive promotions to invigorate morale within the organization.

SsangYong Motors stated, "This organizational restructuring focuses on actively responding to the new management environment changes arising from M&A and enhancing efficiency and expertise to improve overall corporate performance. We will not only normalize operations quickly but will also strive to recreate the glory of SsangYong Motors as an SUV specialist through the successful development of new cars like the U100."
