Exploring the Future: Hankook Tire’s Vision for Space-Shifting Mobility

In the future, tires will move more freely in all directions. This freedom of movement will enable free movement within spaces. This is the future mobility world envisioned by Hankook Tire.

On the 30th of last month, Hankook Tire held its ‘Design Innovation Day’ at Peaches Do Won in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong. The Design Innovation Project is Hankook Tire’s future R&D program that presents a vision for the future smart city and the evolving mobility industry. This event has been ongoing since 2012. At this year’s 11th event, Hankook Tire unveiled its Space Shifting Mobility.

Space Shifting Mobility is a new mobility concept that enables environmentally-friendly movement within future smart cities, fueled by the persistent rise of pandemic living, increasing the time spent at home. This mobility robot, known as the Wheelbot, is equipped with five spherical tires and moves freely in compact spaces.

This technology serves as a means of new mobility that allows for free movement within spaces. As more pandemics arise, people will tend to stay at home, increasing the need for solutions like the Wheelbot, which will connect individuals even when they cannot move. This is the new world that Hankook Tire envisions.

In addition to Design Innovation Day, Peaches Do Won attracted attention with its Made In Korea project. Made In Hankook is an event created by Hankook Tire to engage with the MZ generation.

As you enter the main entrance of the event, a vehicle model mounted with Hankook’s electric racing car tire ‘Ion’ displayed on an acrylic panel immediately catches the eye. Hankook Tire’s technological prowess has been recognized, and they will officially supply tires for the Formula E starting next May.

There are also various attractions at the venue. You can experience go-karting on the rooftop of the building, and enjoy a mini car rally on a track-shaped mini circuit. Additionally, Hankook Tire is selling exclusive goods in collaboration with the clothing brand PEACHS. Made In Korea will be held at Peaches Do Won, Seongsu-dong, Seoul until the 9th.
