Volkswagen ID.4 Crowned Car of the Month for October 2022

The Korean Automotive Journalists Association has selected the Volkswagen ID.4 as the Car of the Month for October 2022.

The Car of the Month is determined by a committee under the association, which evaluates new and facelifts launched between the first and last day of the previous month.

Evaluation criteria consist of five categories: interior/exterior design and emotional quality, safety and convenience features, driving performance, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions, and marketability and purchase intention.

Among the new cars showcased last month, the candidates for Car of the Month included the Mercedes-Benz The New EQE, Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, Volkswagen ID.4, and Hyundai Ioniq 6, with Volkswagen ID.4 ultimately winning with a score of 35.3 out of 50 points after fierce competition.

The Volkswagen ID.4 received a high score of 8.3 out of 10 in the marketability and purchase intention category, and achieved a score of 7.0 in safety and convenience features.

Lee Seung-yong, president of the Korean Automotive Journalists Association, stated, “The ID.4 is a pure electric SUV from the Volkswagen brand, poised to lead Volkswagen’s e-mobility strategy as a new model.” He continued, “Equipped with a high-voltage battery capacity of 82kWh, it offers a generous driving range of up to 405km on a single charge (combined standard). It comes with a variety of safety and convenience features that domestic consumers prefer, providing a comfortable driving experience, and considering government subsidies, the vehicle’s price is also attractive.”

Since May 2019, the association has been selecting and announcing the Car of the Month. This year, the following models have received this honor: ▲ January: Audi e-tron GT ▲ February: Volkswagen New 8th Generation Golf ▲ March: Volvo C40 Recharge ▲ April: BMW i4 ▲ May: The New Mercedes-Benz C-Class ▲ June: Toyota GR86 ▲ July: Lexus New Generation NX ▲ August: Ssangyong Torres ▲ September: Land Rover All-New Range Rover.
