Volkswagen Unveils the New Jetta: A Fusion of Style and Performance

The official pre-orders for Volkswagen Korea’s core model in its ‘accessible premium’ strategy, the ‘New Jetta’, began on the 14th of this month, with customer deliveries starting in November.

The 7th generation Jetta, launched in Korea in 2020, received widespread acclaim for being a German premium compact sedan available at a reasonable price, appealing to consumers across various age groups and quickly rising to popularity among Volkswagen’s models.

Volkswagen Korea aims to strengthen its ‘accessible premium’ strategy with the refreshed 7th generation Jetta, which features not only a stylish exterior design but also significantly enhanced value, solidifying its leadership in the import compact market.

Sasha Asikian, President of Volkswagen Korea, stated, “The Jetta is the core model of our ‘accessible premium’ strategy, providing many customers the essence of German engineering at a reasonable price. The newly launched Jetta promises to earn high support from domestic sedan customers once again with its stylish design, more efficient and powerful powertrain, and best-in-class convenience and safety features that you won’t find in competing import premium compact sedans.”

The front features a two-line chrome radiator grille connecting the LED headlights, inheriting Volkswagen’s latest design DNA. Additionally, the bumper grille design at the bottom of the radiator grille has been updated to emphasize a wider stance after the previous fog lights were removed. The rear bumper also features a dynamic diffuser design and updated chrome and black accents, maintaining consistent design language with the front.

The new Jetta is equipped with a 1.5 TSI gasoline turbo engine, which offers 10 more horsepower than the previous model’s 1.4 TSI engine. It delivers a maximum output of 160 horsepower (at 5,500 rpm) and a maximum torque of 25.5 kg.m in the practical range of 1,750-4,000 rpm. Coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it enhances driving comfort while optimizing performance. The certified fuel economy stands at 14.1 km/l (urban 12.3 km/l, highway 17.1 km/l).

Similar to its predecessor, the new Jetta includes various convenience features that aid in providing a comfortable and safe driving experience, boasting high value compared to competing models in its segment.

Korean customers can enjoy desirable features such as front seat ventilation and heating, power-adjustable and memory driver’s seat, dual-zone Climatronic automatic air conditioning, leather multifunction steering wheel, and 10-color ambient lighting included as standard. Additionally, the 1.5 TSI Prestige trim adds a panoramic sunroof, rear-seat heating, and heated steering wheel.

The digital convenience features include an 8-inch Discover Media infotainment system with wireless charging and wireless app connect, standard across all trims, with the 1.5 TSI Prestige trim supporting Korean navigation. Along with this, the 1.5 TSI Premium trim features an 8-inch digital cockpit, while the 1.5 TSI Prestige trim includes a 10.25-inch digital cockpit pro.

For safety, the new Jetta is laden with top-tier safety features. All trims feature Volkswagen’s state-of-the-art driver assistance system IQ.Drive, integrating Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Front Assist and Emergency Braking System, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert System, and a Park Pilot with front and rear sensors, as well as a Fatigue Warning System as standard. Additionally, starting with this new Jetta, the 1.5 TSI Premium trim now includes a rear-view camera and Light Assist.

The new Jetta will be available in two trims: 1.5 TSI Premium and 1.5 TSI Prestige, offered in a total of six colors, including two new exterior colors: Kings Red Metallic and Rising Blue Metallic.

The pricing is set at 32,329,000 KRW for the 1.5 TSI Premium and 35,863,000 KRW for the 1.5 TSI Prestige (including the 3.5% individual consumption tax, VAT included), and a ‘5-year/150,000 km warranty extension program’ along with ‘Total Care Service for accident repairs’ is provided at no additional cost to reduce overall ownership costs.
