New Leadership in the Korean Automotive Industry: Gang Nam-hoon Takes Charge

The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association announced on the 18th that Gang Nam-hoon has been appointed as the 18th president.

In his inauguration ceremony held at the Automobile Hall at 10 AM, President Gang stated, “The automotive industry is currently undergoing a major transformation not seen in a century. With advancements in AI, big data, and connected technologies, the industry is shifting from manufacturing to service-oriented operations, facing various challenges and difficulties. We must strive to lead the industry with a proactive mindset and play the role of a leader who presents a vision for the future mobility era.”

Meanwhile, President Gang entered public service through the 26th National Administrative Exam. He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in International Economics, obtained a master’s degree from the Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Administration, and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan. He has held key positions, including Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Energy Policy Officer at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and Presidential Advisor on Knowledge and Economy. He has also served as Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and Chairman of the Korea Energy Agency.
