StradVision Appoints Jack Sim as New CTO: A Vision for Revolutionary Autonomous Driving Technology

StradVision has announced the appointment of engineer Jack Sim (Korean name: Sim Ji-woong), who comes from Google’s Waymo, as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). CTO Jack Sim plans to lead research and development at StradVision while enhancing SVNet software to provide innovative vision solutions to various customers and partners.

Jack Sim is recognized as a global expert in deep learning visualization and application, having authored multiple papers at top-tier computer vision conferences and hosted workshops.

As a computer vision technology developer, he led the development team for autonomous driving technologies at Google Research and Waymo, including object recognition technologies and machine learning (ML) models for self-driving trucks. He has over 20 years of work experience, including time in Silicon Valley. The 5 million scale Google Landmark Dataset, which he developed and released as open-source during his time at Google, is recognized as one of the most utilized standard datasets in large-scale visual recognition.

He graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering at Seoul National University and holds a Master’s degree from the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed his doctoral coursework.

CTO Jack Sim stated, “StradVision is realizing a vision to accelerate software-based automotive innovation in the global automotive industry. I was drawn to join because a Korean startup is expanding its global influence through technology in the field of autonomous driving,” and added, “I will contribute to the development of safe and high-level autonomous driving recognition technology at StradVision.”

CEO Kim Jun-hwan of StradVision remarked, “StradVision has achieved rapid growth over the past few years. Now is the time to introduce Level 4 autonomous driving technology into mass production and to develop universal technology beyond the automobile sector,” adding, “We expect that CTO Sim’s achievements in computer vision technology innovation and machine learning development will greatly contribute to realizing StradVision’s future vision of ‘Vision AI for Everyone.'”

Founded in 2014, StradVision is recognized for its AI-based object recognition software ‘SVNet’ within the global automotive industry. SVNet accurately detects and identifies various information even in adverse weather or dark environments, and its advantage lies in implementing deep learning-based object recognition with minimal computation and power consumption.
