Genesis GV60 Achieves Top Safety Pick+ Award: A Testament to Electric Vehicle Safety

The Genesis GV60, the brand’s first dedicated electric vehicle, has proven its safety credentials.

Genesis announced that the GV60 received the highest rating of “Top Safety Pick+” (TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), as announced on the 27th (local time).

The IIHS is a non-profit organization established in 1959 that comprehensively evaluates and publishes results on the crash safety performance and crash prevention capability of vehicles released in the U.S. market each year.

Since 2012, it has introduced the small overlap test, which assesses safety by testing only a part of the vehicle’s front, making it one of the most stringent new car safety evaluations in the world.

Vehicles that exhibit the highest level of safety receive the TSP+ rating, while vehicles with satisfactory results are awarded the TSP rating.

To receive a TSP+ rating, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of “Good” in six crash safety evaluations: driver-side small overlap, passenger-side small overlap, front crash, side crash, roof strength, and head restraints.

In addition, it must also achieve an “Advanced” or higher rating in the front crash prevention system tests (vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian), as well as an “Acceptable” or higher rating for headlight assessments across all trims.

The GV60 received the highest “Good” rating in all six crash safety evaluations and headlight assessments across all trims, proving its top-level safety.

In the front crash prevention system evaluations, the GV60 was able to effectively detect both vehicle-to-vehicle crashes within 40 km/h and pedestrians, earning the highest rated of “Superior”.

The GV60 is equipped with various advanced driving safety assist features, including Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA), and Highway Driving Assist (HDA).

With the GV60’s TSP+ achievement, Genesis is honored to have all models evaluated by the IIHS, including the G70, G80, G90, GV70, and GV80, achieving the TSP+ rating.

A Genesis official stated, “Genesis places the highest priority on customer safety while developing all models, and we are happy to have our models recognized for high safety through IIHS, including the GV60.”
