Introducing the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55: A Tribute to Performance and Heritage

Mercedes-Benz Korea has launched the ‘Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55’.

Founded in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, Mercedes-AMG has represented high performance, unparalleled uniqueness, and dynamic driving enjoyment for the past 55 years. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has held a unique position in the Mercedes-AMG portfolio as the ‘King of Off-Road’ since its first launch as a high-performance AMG in 1999, maintaining its status for over 20 years.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 is a special edition model celebrating 55 years of Mercedes-AMG. Combining the distinctive boxy design, powerful driving performance, and top-level safety of the G-Class with special design elements commemorating the anniversary, this model has been reborn with AMG’s unique character and exclusivity. There will be a limited release of only 85 units of the Edition 55 model in Korea.

Johannes Shun, Vice President of Product, Marketing and Digital Business at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “Mercedes-AMG has delivered its differentiated value through outstanding driving performance and diverse lineups for the past 55 years.” He added, “The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 model features special design elements and performance packages that highlight the AMG spirit, maximizing its rarity as a limited edition model.”

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 flaunts special design elements reflecting AMG’s character, such as ‘Edition 55’ lettering placed throughout the vehicle, making it instantly recognizable as an anniversary model.

The Edition 55 launched in Korea comes in a sleek and refined G Manufaktur Opalite White Bright exterior color. Both sides of the vehicle are adorned with ‘Edition 55’ trims embossed with the AMG emblem, while the 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels feature a glossy rim edge finished in a matte Tantalum Gray color that contrasts beautifully with the exterior. The fuel tank cap also elegantly showcases ‘AMG’ lettering in silver chrome color for added finesse.

The Edition 55’s exterior highlights an emphasis on strength and dynamism through the application of the AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II. AMG-specific radiator grille, turn signals, side mirrors, rear spare wheel ring, and exterior protection strips are all finished in black, creating a striking contrast against the exterior color.

Along with the Mercedes-Benz star emblem located at the front and rear of the vehicle, the AMG emblem applied to the radiator grille and rear, ‘V8 BiTurbo’ lettering engraved on the front wing, and the Mercedes-AMG G 63 model badge at the rear are all crafted in high-gloss black color, emphasizing the dynamic and luxurious atmosphere exclusive to Mercedes-AMG.

The interior features a harmonious blend of classic red and black Nappa leather seats, completing a sophisticated ambiance, with an AMG matte carbon fiber trim creating a unique atmosphere. The stainless steel door sills are adorned with red ‘AMG’ lettering that captures attention every time you enter the vehicle.

Additionally, the AMG Performance Steering Wheel, made from Dynamica microfiber, features engravings of ‘AMG’ and ‘55’, enhancing the specialness of this limited edition model, while the high-quality black AMG Edition 55 special floor mats are embellished with red stitching and ‘Edition 55’ lettering, elevating the interior’s sophistication.

This Edition 55 model launched in Korea comes with a performance package that boasts even more powerful performance. The performance package enhances the top speed to 240 km/h along with an AMG carbon fiber engine cover applied to the 4.0-liter V8 BiTurbo engine, allowing the Mercedes-AMG G 63 to unleash its formidable driving potential.

To celebrate the launch of Edition 55, Mercedes-Benz Korea will showcase the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 model at the dedicated AMG brand center ‘AMG Seoul’ throughout November.

The price of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55, including VAT, is 293.6 million won.
